New Law Student Leaders Appointed
The ABA-IPL Law Student Action Group (LSAG) is pleased to announce that William & Mary Law School student Brian Focarino has been appointed Chair of the LSAG Copyright Subcommittee, and Rutgers University School of Law - Camden student Heather Schubert has been appointed Chair of the LSAG Law Student Reporter Subcommittee. In these positions, Brian will keep LSAG members informed of opportunities for law students that relate to copyright right, including in-person events, task force openings, and internships, and Heather will serve as the student leader for the ABA-IPL's Law Student Reporters Program, sit on the program's selection committee, organize the program's events, and coordinate program participants.
Brian Focarino is a rising 2L at William & Mary Law School. Before beginning his legal studies, Brian completed his undergraduate studies in linguistics and government at William & Mary and received his M.Sc. in English Linguistics from the University of Edinburgh. The summer before his first year of law school, he worked as legal intern for intellectual property at Verizon in Washington, D.C. During his first year of law school, Brian has been active in the Virginia IP community, including the Thomas Jefferson IP Inn of Court. He was recently selected to serve as the 2013-2014 Co-President of William & Mary's IP Society and will spend the summer as a legal intern for intellectual property at Google in Silicon Valley. Heather Schubert is a rising 2L at Rutgers University School of Law - Camden. Prior to law school, Heather completed her Masters in Library and Information Science through the University of Pittsburgh while working full time. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, where a semester abroad in Rome inspired her award winning senior thesis on Italian Baroque frescoes. During her first year of law school, Heather was chosen as one of ABA-IPL's Law Student Reporters, served as 1L Representative for Rutgers Intellectual Property Law Association, actively participated in the Mediation Pro Bono program, and spent her spring break in New Orleans doing pro bono work for AIDS Law during Alternative Spring Break.
