Summary:
In Ravka's frosty heart, the legend of the White Death spreads. a woman with snow-white hair, frozen-fire eyes, and powers that rival those of Heartrenders under Jurda Parem. Once a slave in the Menagerie, the one who calls herself Heaven is now a myth, either leaving towns in ruins or former disease-ridden people crying with gratitude. A Sankta in the making.
General Kirigan's interest soon turns dark, and his desire becomes obsessive. Never had he been so captivated and haunted by someone. To him, she is more than power, more than an obsession, more than a temporary distraction. She is his other half — the soul he’s searched for through lifetimes of shadow. He just knows it.
But between his consuming love and Alina Starkov’s fragile promise of freedom, Heaven must choose what she will become: Savior, monster… or destruction wrapped in a pretty bow?
And in case you hadn’t realized yet: Heaven is you.

☾ I haven't read the 3 books yet so this work mainly based on the TV show even though I know it's fairly different from the original Grisha verse. If you're an adorable lore psycho, you might not want to read that! :(
Based on @zablife’s American Teenager AU. Heaven belongs to @call-sign-shark. If you’re paying attention, there’s a reference to Lee’s blurb.
In the pious stillness of some forgotten sleeping town that refused to acknowledge God had already forsaken it, trouble came in the shape of defiant youth.
Heaven and Nina’s friendship was born in the church pews, where they would send each other knowing glances and make airplanes out of the mass leaflets. And as their giggles disrupted the preacher’s sermons, the disapproving glares of the small town crones irremediably put an everlasting mark on them.
Two unruly young girls, too bored for their own good.
They had that instinctive understanding that makes girls find each other and stick together for life. They threaded arm in arm through the chaos of teenage years, discovering life with the reckless curiosity of those who simply don’t know better. Sometimes it looked like late-night conversations and sharing secrets between clouds of smoke, mischievous and gleaming-eyed. Other times it looked like sneaking into places they weren’t allowed in and running from the cops after stealing liquor from the corner shop.
Nina knew all about Heaven’s rot, her penchant for collecting animal bones, and her knack for lightening men’s pockets with the sole power of her charms. Heaven knew all about Nina’s anger, her wish to leave, and her crush on an older boy with a bad name and sad blue eyes.
The night she escaped, Nina stopped by her best friend’s house, armed with nothing but a backpack, a bunch of money she had stolen from her father, and the uncompromising restlessness prompting her to go in search of something more. Heaven didn’t ask questions. She never had to. She just handed her a haunting knife, claiming it might be useful.
And in hindsight, useful it was.
That was the beginning of the end. Within a year, Heaven, too, would disappear, leaving but a trail smoke and ashes in her wake. Soon, the very existence of those two degenerate young girls was reduced to some fading Missing posters on the bulletin board of a rundown police station.
They were cursed from the start, people would say. Jesus didn’t want them.
“I feel really awake. I don't recall ever feeling this awake. You know? Everything looks different now. You feel like that? You feel like you got something to live for now?” || Thelma and Louise (1991)

→ This follows the series of Von Thorne in Vegas. Written by @call-sign-shark and me after the idea that Lee @zablife started.
What started as a road trip ended with a guy dead, a persecution and the FBI putting a price to their heads. They managed to put some distance between the agents and themselves but the girls didn't know for how long.
The car was abandoned somewhere near the entrance of the city with all their baggages inside and both of them blended with the crowd of people, most of them tourists that were visiting Las Vegas.
Heaven said that she was coming soon and she fulfilled her promise. Not 20 minutes later she was back to Rose holding a black credit card between her fingers. Rose opened her mouth but her friend didn't let her talk.
"Don't ask. Let's go to buy some pretty clothes," Heaven said "then we can find a hotel room and then rent a limousine to enjoy the city. Las Vegas, baby!"
"Heaven, for God's sake! That will cause us more trouble."
"We're already in trouble. If they're going to catch us, then we should be at our best."
Rose didn't complain. There was a body on their backs, stealing a credit card and having a beautiful night wasn't the worst thing they had done.
It was Friday night and all the lights were illuminating around them. The hotel had a beautiful room available and both girls didn't waste time to use it. The shower felt good. Washing their bodies and hair was something they both needed after driving a convertible through the middle of the desert for three consecutive days. It was worth and both knew it. That poor girl they helped was going to be fine and the rapist was dead.
The limousine they chose was black as night. It had little champagne bottles inside and they opened two. Then, they stuck their heads out of the window and let the wind play with their hair. They looked like any other friends that were there enjoying the sin city leaving their problems at home.
Once back to their hotel, they went to the casino to try some luck. But the luck didn't come in form of money but two handsome guys that showed interest in them. Heaven didn't have the chance to say a word to Rose yet but she knew one of them from some hours earlier. If that wasn't fate...
Rose stretched out in bed. The passionate Irishman wasn't there, maybe was drinking something. The money she gave him wasn't on the nightstand table, so probably was there trying to clean his mind. She wondered if his friend was with Heaven or if she was alone, too.
Rose opened the door and went to the other room, after putting her ear on the door she heard nothing and dared to knock. Her tall and beautiful friend opened it and let her in.
The bedroom was a chaos with clothes all around the floor and even a chair upside down. The remains of cocaine were on the table.
"So?" Heaven asked. "How's your man?"
"More than fine," Rose replied and couldn't help but smile, something that made her friend chuckle.
"Oh, darlin', I'm so happy for you. That's great. I really am. You finally got laid properly. That's so sweet."
"Oh, shut up!" she said, hitting her with a pillow but it was true. She hadn't had a man like him in a long time, if ever had one and after the chaos her life was during the last days, finding him was even better. Rose went to the window and rested her forehead against the glass. "He's nice. He's sweet but I can't allow myself getting attached to him, not when the FBI is asking for our heads. Nevermind. Tell me about your German model."
"You like him," Heaven said before answering but Rose didn't reply. "Amos is a lion in several aspects, not just the bed that obviously is what we're talking about. But there's more: the black card we used today is his. I wanted to tell you but I didn't find the chance. I recognised him when both of them approached us."
"What? Holy shit! Did you tell him?"
"Of course not! But I gave him his credit card to buy things, but in the dark of the room I'm pretty sure he didn't notice it. He thinks is mine. He'll notice it sooner than later."
"And what are you going to do? He's going to get mad!"
"I'll suck his anger out of his dick, then."
Both girls laughed and for a moment it was like at the beginning of the trip when they took the mythical Route 66, enjoying the sun on their skin, before they stopped at the bar where that man and the girl were. Before the hammer that Heaven found nearby found the man's skull. Before Rose pressed the accelerator hitting some cars parked there while both of them began to run away from the law.
"They won't catch us, Rosie" Heaven added.
Her friend nodded before leaving the bedroom in time that a quiet Amos was returning, he looked tired. Maybe worried. He nodded his head at her and closed the door behind him. Rose found James in the hallway and the same expression Amos had was in his face. Whatever happened, happened in the bar.
"Are you okay?" she asked as he stretched his hand to take hers.
"Are you?"
"I will be."
"Me too."
For the first time they met, they get in bed but they only cuddle. His arms around her body gave her a sense of familiarity that made her feel good but she hated it. She hated that he appeared in the most inappropriate time. She hated that probably for him she was just a fling. And what would happen to her if Heaven and Amos really connected? Her life was a mess and felt alone. She couldn't call anyone because she was afraid that somehow in London the authorities there could have made some agreement, maybe, with the FBI to catch her. And the idea of a life being fugitive in a distant country didn't make her happy.
She rolled in bed and hid her head in his neck.
"The FBI is behind Heaven and me," she whispered to him.
the dragon gets a temporary name and is introduced to Atia's brother, to her amusement
Heavenaerys and Kairaxès belong to @call-sign-shark
cw: mentions of Westerosi practices, past child sexual abuse, dysfunctional relationships, past extramarital affairs, dragons, old timey ways of explaining asexuality
The dragon changed everything.
Aerys’ useless font of knowledge now had some use beyond evading the wife who does not know some people enjoy a life a chastity without serving at the Wall, the Citadel or a Sept. He liked Aelinor’s company just fine, Aerys just did not like the idea of fucking at all, or so Baelor said about his younger brother. The mere concept of being intimate with anyone made him so disgusted that he made it his life’s mission to make copies of every book King Baelor burned instead.
Which included most of the books about dragons and magic.
The dragon is not red or black, preventing any use of it as a symbol of the family. The strange coloring and it choosing to hatch to a girl would be seen as Good Queen Alysanne and Silverwing reborn or Rhaena the Black Bride with Dreamfyre, depending on how optimistic the speaker is. As long as no Maegor nor many daughters to drive to their deaths appear, all will be well.
“Father said the last one was stunted, like a sort of dwarf dragon, but this one looks like the ones in the portraits and tapestries.” Baelor toys with the creature, cutting a chunk of raw beef for the little beast to eat. It was like raising a bird, except the bird is carnivorous and hot. No soft feathers like the little parrot Myriah gave her as a bride to Lord Tully but smooth and hot like the sunbathing snake Prince Maron gave his sister for her last nameday.
“It does, hopefully it will have a better fate than the one your father saw.” Atia tried to keep her distance from the dragon; the last thing she wanted was anyone tying it to her bastard blood when the legitimate heir is right there. Instead of accepting Baelor’s suggestion of giving the next bloody chunk of flank meat to the unnamed dragon, the red-haired woman chose to stand behind him, massaging his shoulders knowing this excuse to feed the dragon was the only respite he’s had all day.
“I am not looking forward to returning to court earlier than we planned.” He said with a deep sigh, He is the Prince of Dragonstone, Lord Paramount of the Crownlands, the one trying to prove to his father that their Hand is nothing but a fucking traitor. He’s gotten grey in his temples just from the weight of all that alone.
While Atia thrives in bullying her idiot brother and his sycophants, the peace here was something to miss. Here she is the Lady of the Land, no one superior to her and no one to sneer at her because of her bastard born status.
“I know, the Septons keep telling me to love my brother, but, Gods, do I hate having to pretend we don’t fucking know what he’s been up to with Bittersteel.” And then there was the fucking war her brother was working towards to. He doesn’t even have a lord paramount onside, but somehow he’s even managed to get the Yronwoods in Dorne to follow him in exchange of getting one of their sons for their little heiress. “On the bright side, this little one will be enough to make him reconsider his plans or at least burn his hair.”
Baelor manages to smile and takes one of the hands on his shoulder to kiss sweetly. He was her knight in shining armor, she was no maiden from the songs, but he might as well have fallen out of them. The Realm was made better just by having him. This dragon was their hope Daemon will shut up and back down.
It has to be.
There is nothing the Gods hate more than kinslaying, Daemon was their blood and war meant killing Daemon’s boys to prevent more uprisings. It was how the dragons died during the Dance; they danced and died because courtiers pitted brother against sister.
Gods, if only her father could have died so much sooner.
They were never strangers to all the stares, the insults and every tiny thing that irked them to no end.
She is not Baelor; she is not sweet or kind or capable of biting her tongue. How Baelor lasted all that time without burning House Dondarrion to the ground with his goodfamily inside of it is beyond Atia’s comprehension.
One comment about Atia smelling ‘Dornish’ when she ‘visited’ Baelor at Summerhall and Atia ratted out her husband of five years to Bloodraven for conspiracy. As much as she hates Brynden’s constant surveillance —she has killed so many good maids thanks to that red marked freak— he was incredibly effective in his role as Master of Whisperers. Had her widowed before the sun even fell that day.
Atia takes the baby everywhere so all are forced to see the dragon and know Daemon’s cause was lost before it even happened. And because the vain and insufferable man her brother has grown into has received a fatal blow in the from of a baby girl, he comes to the gardens where the Princess of Dragonstone holds court with all the loyalists and curious nobles who have gathered around her.
She was never this popular, everyone hated her and she hated them right back. She thought the women of her father’s court tasteless scheming vipers who spent more time on attracting a drunken lecher than expanding their pea sized minds and found a sort of kinship with the sharp and well-read Princess Myriah in Dragonstone after finally angering her mother enough to be sent as far away from her as father allowed.
“Sister, I almost did not believe the news.” Daemon kissed her cheek as if he were not counting down the days to kill her. Too bad it will be the other way around.
They have never gotten along; he was the spoiled little boy who thought he had to have everything he asked for because Daddy paid some attention to him. Atia, being female and useless until she flowered, was blessedly ignored by most. Gods, she had hated him so much when he just had to tell father that she was a maiden flowered when the Old Trout buried his wife of forty years.
“You must see it to believe it, brother.” The woman smiles viciously as she gestures for him to join her and see the winter-colored dragon. “Had she been another boy you would have been fucked.”
Daemon could kiss asses like he enjoyed it. They were equally self-serving, but unlike her, Daemon made you believe he cared about you until you had no use for him. Always did a great job at pretending he loved her. Maybe he did deep down but Atia has never forgiven him for selling her to the men before Baelor and he knows it.
“I have sons and daughters, Little Naerys could have the Aemon she was denied or perhaps we will give her an Aegon once more.” Her brother’s smile grows tight as defeat and embarrassment threaten the façade and chooses that half of the name to bring her down. He knew how she loathed being compared to her dead aunt and took the low hanging fruit in her daughter’s name to make his attack. But no matter, Atia has never let him win.
“Oh, such uninspired names, poor Hev will be bored to tears. Valarr and Matarys are names better suited to go with hers than the sad lot you have.” It is petty, nothing serious yet. Just implying Hev will marry her elder brother like a good Targaryen while reminding him how stupid it was to take up those specific names to mock Daeron. "Aegon with an H, how creative!”
Aegon, Aemon, Daemon, Haegon and Aenys. The eldest girl had been spared; Calla was named after her Tyroshi grandmother leaving the other to be called Daena. What a fucking name, at least their mother was dead so she wouldn’t be entertaining delusions of grandeur like her idiot son.
“At least I know my sons know they are mine.” Daemon smirks thinking he has her. Daemon has had his people spread the old rumor Daeron is the Dragonknight’s bastard to legitimize his own claim and preening like a virgin bride on her wedding day to look as much as the Conqueror and his namesake as he can. Had they been little again, Atia would have pulled his hair or chopped it off with the shears when he was asleep.
But his words are not enough to cut her. Not when Jack looks enough for her to believe she may have had the correct man sire him. Jack’s eyes were a beautiful indigo, looked blue in some lights, that coupled with his dark hair, boisterous ways and height it was difficult to question his paternity.
Sure, it was not much of a secret to those who knew her that marriage didn’t deter Baelor from seeking her out and that Atia had ridden the dragon far more often than she rode the stag. Orys wasn’t terrible in bed and it stung Baelor’s pride to know Atia did her wifely duties with little issue. While Baelor as a man could get out of bedding his wife, Atia as a woman could not, but there was no love between her and Orys. Fucking was the only way she could tolerate his presence near her. Only time he shut up was when he was eating her cunt and Atia took advantage of that.
Jack’s unclear paternity was the consequence of not being able to say no without casting the blame on Baelor’s stupid betrothal and also stoking Baelor’s jealousy as punishment for choosing the redhaired Dondarrion who looked a little like Atia if you didn’t see her face. Atia still had her husband’s seed in her when an angry Baelor made sure she could never forget he was the only man who could ever truly please her. Baelor as her nephew shared enough traits with her to pass as Jack’s father, but honestly Jack had certain features that could only be Orys’.
“Careful, dear brother, you are slandering the Prince of Dragonstone and the widowed gooddaughter of a Lord Paramount. You might be joining our dear mama in death far sooner than you think if you keep spreading such lies.” The Princess of Dragonstone reminds him that the king may have legitimized them, but unlike him and their half-brothers, Atia married up. Her latest marriage made her second to Queen Myriah, and before that she was the Lady of a Great House. Only Daenerys had married well amongst their sisters, Atia had been the only bastard with enough value to marry two Lord Paramounts.
“Oh, even a monkey dressed in silk is still a monkey, sweet sister. You have a princely husband now, but the moment he’s gone, you will be lower than me once more.” The silver haired man basks in knowing he can always drag her down again. He was the one who chose Lord Oscar Tully and Orys Baratheon for her and was allowed to do as he pleased because he was the head of their family.
If Baelor were to die, Atia wouldn’t pass to him but King Daeron unless she had a son to be regent of. But if Daemon won, as he thinks he will, then he would be able to dish out whatever punishment he wanted onto her and her children.
Hev and Katie would be spared as girls, Hev would be queen to Aegon or whichever lived to succeed Daemon. Jack had value as the Baratheon heir to a man who pledged his loyalty to Daemon and died for it. Atia, as the wife of Daeron’s heir could be killed or made to take holy vows.
“Which is why the Gods sent me not one but two champions.” Atia offers the dragon her hand to perch on as Baelor does and, thank the Gods, it accepts it with no issues. She moves her hand close so her brother can see the creature and the creature see the vermin she has to deal with.
The dragon takes a few sniffs, then sticking out the tongue as if it could taste the rot in Daemon’s soul even under all that perfume. His ---she attracted men like the plague no matter what she did therefore the dragon must be male--- assessment of Daemon the Pretender ends with it hissing and baring it’s teeth at him. If it could muster some fire, it would.
Makes two of them, two beings put on this earth to loathe the man before them.
“Charming. I see you have infected this magnificent creature with your hatred for me.” Her brother hides his embarrassment at being rejected by the symbol of the Targaryens’ legitimacy by pretending all is well and this was just a fluke.
Still he does not give up and instead tries to reach out to his infant niece knowing toothless children won’t bite. Heavenerys stirs and even frowns before his cold hand wakes her up, but not before the little dragon flaps its leathery wings trying to fly into the enemy breaching the sanctuary of his mistress’ nest.
It is rather comical to see Daemon flail trying to fight off the angry animal, much like her parrot would attack him when she taught it to. He cannot hurt the dragon, he does not want to be bitten by it and once the dragon has gotten him away from Hev’s basinet, the little dragon ceases his attack.
This is enough to attract Baelor, the man Daemon has hated ever since they were born, who had come to join her while the Small Council took a respite from another of Butterwell’s schemes. He takes his time in taking the creature away from Daemon, this being somehow more humiliating than losing every tourney and spar against her husband.
Her brother is red and bleeding from the bites and scratches on his clothes and person, the dragon chirps happily in Baelor’s shoulder like a child with its beloved father and Atia is more than ready to rub salt on Daemon’s wounds.
“Caraxes is very protective of our little queen. Be grateful he cannot burn yet, or else you would have been history, big brother.”
Hev will change the dragon’s name when she masters speech and High Valyrian, but for now it will have a name that will show Daemon not to fuck with her or her family. Caraxes was the dragon ridden by his namesake and King Jaehaerys’ heir, Aemon, before that. The Gods ,if they even exist, had rejected him and chosen Baelor’s line to rule, and no fucking sword or crown will change that.
These poster edits are for @call-sign-shark Art exchange event. Thank you Shark for letting me share this with you!
Heaven and Amos Playlist
I had an amazing time making these, As I was looking for poster inspiration + Faceclaim pictures on Pinterest, I found myself falling into the rabbit hole of doomscrolling through Heaven and Amos’ face claims ( ̄▽ ̄;)
@call-sign-shark This idea just randomly conjured itself up inside my head but I could picture Amos and Heaven during Middle Ages. He is known as a ruthless, evil leader who has a heavy dislike towards most of the town and his punishment for wrongdoers is quite severe. Then, Heaven enters into town one day, while he is out, he spots her and he is suddenly attracted to her.
I don't know if you'll ever use this idea but I wanted to share with you before it disappeared out of my brain.
Thanks for playing Sharkie! Holly has a lot of thoughts about the murder munchkins (she says you can tell Amos she called him that 😘).
I think when she first meets them she doesn’t quite know what to make of either of them - Heaven is quiet but with that unsettling energy, pouting like she’s been sent to see the headteacher, and Amos radiates disinterest in anything that isn’t Heaven. But Hev is a vulnerable young woman and Holly can’t help but want to make things better for her, and Hev has a wicked sense of humour that Holly really enjoys.
As she gets to know them better, and to her surprise, Heaven gets attached to her, she has a lot of pride over having succeeded where others have failed. She’s maybe one of the first medical professionals to truly see how devoted Heaven and Amos are to each other.
However, as much as she loved Heaven from very early on, she thinks Amos could do with being brought down several pegs and if he wasn’t as utterly smitten with Hev, she might not warm up to him at all. But she has to admit that he’s good fun to argue with, and if at first his little smirks at her trying to tell him off for breaking rules and putting both he and Hev in a tight spot piss her off, it also fuels her to keep going. Plus she’s fiercely protective of Heaven and she can see that they have them in common. The time he finally nods - just once - in acceptance that they need to be more careful, she’s gleeful. Even if she knows deeps down he was probably just trying to get her to stop talking 🤭
Going through their pregnancy journey with them has made her much closer to both, especially seeing Amos that vulnerable - it probably took a lot for him to let her in like that and she can respect it as someone who is quite similar in that sense. She thinks it’s a shame so few others get to see the softer side of both Hev and Amos, and she feels very lucky to be in their circle of trust.
