Their wedding had been perfect — they’d danced until their legs almost gave out, sang until their voices were horse, drank until their words slurred together. And now, they were alone in his bed, him holding her close as he stroked her hair. He truly did love her — he just wondered how long it would last before one of them got bored, or before she found out what a terrible person he was.

“It’s just us,” he echoed back to her, leaning forward to give her a kiss, a hand grabbing the back of her neck as he pulled her closer, fingers lazily toying with her hair. Last night was amazing; now, it was just them, ready to live out the rest of their — no, his — life. She knew he was going to die; of course she knew. She accepted it and loved him regardless. “What should we do first, mi amor? We have so many options.”

He couldn’t agree more. Watching Berlin and Palermo laughing and drinking together, straightening each other’s ties, making up any excuse to touch each other... it was dumb. All of it was dumb. The heist was going to start soon, and what was the first fucking rule? No personal relationships. Then again, everyone broke that rule, including Helsinki himself. So did Tatiana.

Turning his head to face her, he nodded slowly. “Mhm.” He didn’t say much, still watching the two men out of the corner of his eye. No matter how badly Berlin treated Palermo, the Argentinian always came crawling back — never to Helsinki, who could give him everything he wanted and more, but to Berlin, who would only end up breaking his heart again. Tatiana just feel the same way, he assumed. His gaze moved back over to her fully, blocking out the two men giggling like they were crushing in high school again. “They aren’t as happy as they seem.”
