Musings: You'll Know What To Do
Because Musings aims to put a touch of inspiration in your - my nonexistent readership - every week, may it be through a lengthy introspection, a melancholic vignette, a compendium of dreams, musings, an appreciation post to the heroes of my life or an account of my encounter with (two) of them, I have decided to put down in writing some of the pieces of wisdom I've had the fortune of receiving from the most influential and endeared people in my life.
1. Celebrate the little things
2. Always choose to be happy
3. Keep the best set of friends for you
4. Know what you need to know, when you have to say it, how you're supposed to say it.
5. Help. Make someone smile.
6. Constantly find inspiration to live by
8. Do what you do, excellently
10. Never mind the ugly (lies, cheats, stress)
Everybody's allowed a meltdown. No one is expected to be indestructible.
And so as I cap off this post, I have to admit that, as of the moment, I am not at my best. But it's good to know you have what it takes to get back, even if all the odds seem to be against it.
I would like to go against those odds, and reach out to you, to remind you to remember all you have learned and all the clichés (and the songs and the books and the movies) because, yes, they are going to help a lot. Example (try to take a brief moment to grasp its message): Never give up. In line with that adage is the knowledge of the true worth of what you are fighting for. What is its value to you?
So after you're done crying, hitting the wall with you fist, yelling at your best friend, destroying the keyboard, writing it all down, singing it all out, believing the lies, convincing yourself, reaching a dead end, running in the rain, eating everything, sleeping or being an utter bitch to everyone, breathe. The next step is one that's always been up to you. Do you want to be happy? Then I believe you'll know what to do.
