Wait so
You’re telling me one of the spookiest villains in Disney’s tangled who looks like a human ver of Scar has the same name as one of Disney’s most precious cinnamon roll and best Disney dad TM? 😅😂 (irony is he looks spooky as he’s already dead but the good hector)
This time round in the South Island we decided to brave the cold Akaroa water to see if these wee poppets would be interested in some company and I was NOT expecting how intrigued they would be by us! They did so many swim-bys and I could hear them chattering under the waves, it was incredible (as you can probably tell by my goober face....)
I love how much work the local tourism offices have done to get these rare dolphins more protection. And every single swimmer contributes more money to the cause, so that these beauties can hopefully recover and thrive in their natural environment <3
It's #FunFactFriday! Did you know that the Hector's Dolphin is a small cetacean species (1.2-1.6 m) found only in the coastal waters of New Zealand?! These dolphins can be divided into two subspecies: The (still named) Hector's Dolphin found around the South Island and the critically endangered Maui's Dolphin found around the North Island.⠀ #whaletales #dolphins #didyouknow #trivia #dolphinsareawsome #newzealand #dyk #hectors #mauis
