For the Gift Blog Thing: I’m trying to come up with some ideas for my cousin, she’s a student in her 1st year of college/living in a dorm, she’s in the pre-med program, and she also likes comedy and marine life. Any ideas? What are the kids into these days? Thanks!

so, having not lived in a dorm i don’t actually know what  would be nice for it but keep that in mind... maybe pillows? or small plants? 

as a pre-med student she’s probably rather stressed out, so figure out a few things that can help her de-stress. adult coloring books are all the rage lately, so that with a few nifty pens could be nice

a phone charger as previously recommended by an anon would definitely be something the kids are into these days

get her a bunch of stationary/journal/notation stuff. everyone promises themselves they’ll be more organized in the new year and this might help her actually do that

a precious dolphin usb stick. unless things have changed since i was in uni (and ok they probably have) usb sticks are really handy to have around

anything with marine life puns

My friend totally had a dino-themed bachelorette party. She wore a raptor head hat with a veil, we went to a fancy Brazilian steakhouse armed with dino grabber toys, and saw Jurassic World. It was awesome.

You are right that is probably what happened & then Jensen carefully chose coordinating gray jeans & red plaid button down to go with & he likely texted Misha a pic with the caption "Mish - yay or nay?" & Misha texted back "It's always yay Jen."

Re Supernatural and politics: I wonder if maybe the background of the boys and the general setting of the show might have something to do with this misconception too? Many American shows have urban settings with white collar characters, while Supernatural is largely blue collar/rural which naturally brings to mind certain character types and tropes that are thought of as being in the realm of “traditional American” when that may not necessarily be the case

Yeah, I think that's definitely a factor in it.  Americana in general has a very nostalgic, nationalist feel to it, and since that's the tone of spn, especially early seasons, it would be a reasonable supposition to make.  Except that Supernatural has shown time and time again that it doesn't conform to the genres that it follows, at least not fully.  It does kind of bug me when people just go by the general feel or genres rather than judging by actual evidence within the show- but then again, that's just my own curmudgeonly attitude towards the world in general, haha.
