my roman reigns catholicism posting is entirely based on a brainworm i had about why he forgave seth so quickly and then verbally retconned it. and also the sermon on the mount. it is a thing i honestly cannot talk about without getting too goddamn personal but like.

i have. frankly too many literal new testament citations, but first and foremost:

the passage in which jesus tells his followers that hating someone is equivalent to murder. thought policing the act of forgiveness. hm hm hm ha hoo hem. you're going to hell for hating your brother, roman reigns, so when he comes to you and asks if things can be like they used to be, and he doesn't apologize, but he's your little brother, and you love him, you have to love him, so you better fucking say yes.

"Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." It's righteous. everything he does is righteous. he was persecuted, right? this is all just. the kingdom is his to inherit.

something something. the words are the words, but the meaning comes from how he reads them. the same system that irreparably damaged his psyche can also serve as justification for his terrible actions when he perpetuates it.
