Okay what other word for "heel" should I use while I teach heelwork? I'm already using "heel" as a stationary command where it can be reasonably sloppy. I need a different word for the clean movement.

We had competition day the last weekend (11.10.2025).
We had our third (when I remember right) IBgH3 competition and Sammy was super good again.
It always makes me happy to see him happy with the things we are doing together.
The judge was super kind and loved Sammys way to work, his motivation - we got 90 from 100 points and a "very good".
Stand out from motion, lay down out from motion and recall, Retrieve on the ground, retrieve over the wall, heelwork and send aways were very good.
Even the long down stay was super good, normally Sammy barks a lot while this task but he was amazing.
Only task that did not wanted to work was the sit out from motion, Sammy showed a stand out from motion but it is totally okay.
I personally had a bad feeling about our heelwork this day, it felt off for me.
Not because of Sammy, because of me.
We have a lot going on here and I am ill so I was a chaos and did not "helped" Sammy enough.
I am really thankful that Sammy is such a wonderful boy and gave his best beside I could not.
Thank you so much, Sammy ❤️.
He will soon be 11 years old, he is still super fit and healthy but the thought about dog sport retirement is there.
faggot!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are starting to get a bit of the picture I want for heeling. We got a very long way to go and it's not something I'm rushing. Yet I'm very happy to see some pieces pulling together past puppy throwing himself at food in hand.
here are some different unfinished ✨heeling styles ✨. both of these guys are in the middle of fading the lure so they are following hand position. pando’s heeling is much more focused on tight head position and not so much fancy footwork, whereas nettle has a pretty lax head position (it turns to the side) but she has the fanciest feet. imo i prefer nettle’s style because i like the look and enthusiasm but a lot of that depends on how the dog naturally moves
pando’s has been fun to teach even if it does look a little flat (to me!) in comparison! i like the Heeling Mechanics
when i was training sydney for rally, i would wonder why every other trainer i saw was so obsessed over heel, because once i got syd to think about LLW instead of pulling, she had a near-flawless heel
and so the options were, either i’m a superb trainer or sydney was a freak of nature
now i’m trying to teach hazard heeling so guess which one it is
I feel like I say "my dog has crazy good pivots" a lot ... So here's some nice pivots.
