This small drabble has been on my mind since Mortenax Blade came out:
Things in Planarcadia have calmed down. Astral Express throws a party or something in the Party Car. All the allies are invited. Blade and Silverwolf show up. It's night and there's a karaoke session going on. Some of your allies and companions have had a few drinks. You may had a glass or two as well. Or maybe not. It's your turn to sing. Doesn't matter if you see yourself as Trailblazer or your persona or whatever.
You go up on stage. You start singing. You sing a song of your choice. It's filled with joy, longing and yearning. Maybe a romantic song, maybe not. You're singing with lungs out. You have a decent voice. It's pleasant to listen too. Some of your companions are cheering you on as you sing.
Admist your momentary superstardom, you glance at your fans, I mean your audience. You see Himeko smiling. March is snapping pictures. Dan Heng is on guard for whatever reason. Silverwolf is half focused while half hacking. Ashveil is being a grandpa somewhere in one of the lounge chairs in the far distance.
Then there's Blade. Under the dim lights of the mini bar where Shush has been silenced, god knows how, probably Silverwolf, Blade's sitting on the stool quietly as he swirls the glass of whiskey. He's watching you quietly, very intently, as he takes slow sips of his drink while you belt your lungs out.
At a specific part of the song, your eyes connect. Maybe it's a lyric about not being able to have someone you want. Maybe it'd about desiring someone from the distance. Maybe it's a silent love declaration. Whatever it is, your eyes connect.
Your heart beats faster. You flush a little. The dim lights make it hard to see but a tiny smirk is reflected on the glass he's holding. He's been watching you pretty much all night long. Yet you just noticed.
Suddenly the song feels a little to personal. The lyrics feel a little too real. You break eye contact and smile at the others. But your eyes find its way back to Blade. He's leaning against the countertop, now fully focused on you. His fingers drum against the surface and he tilts his head while he smiles at you.
Its the soft gentle smile of his.
You grip the microphone tighter. Run your fingers through your hair. Strut a little. Somehow you manage to sing the rest of the song without making your mutual flirting obvious to anyone else.
The song ends. Your companions and allies cheer. You smile at them all but you're too focused on the man. Blade takes one last shot of his glass and sets it down with a thud. He stares at you again.
You give him a shy smile. He reciprocates. Then he gets up and moves away from the partying into a quieter corner of the car, his back facing you throughout.
Your heart thumps inside your rib cage. You glance at everyone else whose occupied with the next singer. You quietly slip away to follow him.
Aeons above. What did you do?
Did you both just silently confess your feelings to each other? Through a song?
Yeah. Oh you crazy girl. Well since you already subtly confessed your feelings for the man, you might as well say it to him wholeheartedly, hm?
It's not like anyone will notice you two missing :)

She went home. Okay, that's not a trick. It's not a dream. That's real. And there is a whole town full of people who are gonna be banging down your door demanding answers whether you have them or not. Take me to the tree—let's see if we can find some.
