It was a fun idea; roleplaying at Tapper's and trying to pick each other up… Or it would've been, if Felix hadn't forgotten to take off his wedding band.
—
Felix sat at the bar, nursing a half-drunken root beer. They'd planned the scene out beforehand, and Tamora was waiting across the bar for the signal.
Felix knocked back the rest of his drink and shuddered as the cold liquid went down smooth— that was the signal, and Tamora wasted no time approaching her target.
She stalked over to him slowly, and Felix tried his best to appear like he hadn't noticed, but he couldn't help the subtle grin playing at his lips.
Tamora hugged him from behind, her chest pressed against his back, and her arms thrown over his shoulders while her hands wandered down his chest.
"I saw you across the bar, and I just had to ask," Tamora purred lowly in his ear, and Felix nearly melted on the spot. "What's a good guy like you doin' alone in a place like this?" She teased, smirking mischievously — and just to really get him going, she nipped at his ear.
"O-oh, well…ah, ma'am," Felix's voice was already getting that trembling edge to it, and if they didn't get out of there quick enough, this scene would end rather embarrassing for him. "J-just enjoyin' m' after work hours, same as you…!" He was beginning to sweat— good thing Tamora knew this would happen and they planned an easy out.
"I know a good place we can both enjoy our time off work—" And that's when she saw it. Felix had forgotten to take off his wedding band. It was such a small detail, and really she could have ignored it… But where's the fun in that? "Oh, you're married, hm?" Tamora raised an eyebrow, fingering his wedding band.
This wasn't part of the plan. Felix furrowed his eyebrows together and looked down at his hand— fiddlesticks, he knew he'd forgotten something. Well, if she wanted to talk honest, then he'd talk it too.
"Oh yes, I'm spoken for," Felix chuckled, and as hard as it was for him to do, he removed himself from her clutches. "Married for years to the gal of my dreams. She's just perfect, and golly, I love her more than anything in and outside of this arcade."
She was expecting him to panic and trip over his words, not pull this and make her blush. Felix looked over his shoulder with an almost cocky look — he knew he had called her bluff, and he was waiting on her next move.
"Is that so..." Tamora paused briefly, and a lightbulb went off in her head. She knew how to wrap this up. "Well, where is she then, Pint-sized?" She tilted her head toward the door and hoped Felix picked up on her signal.
"Ah, she's waiting for me back at home," Felix chuckled, waving over Tapper and paying his tab. "This was a lovely chat, ma'am, but you see, I must be on my way. Don't wanna keep the Misses waitin' too long," he hopped off the barstool and swayed his hips as he walked toward the door, looking over his shoulder to say one last thing before he left. "You have a swell night, ma'am! Land knows I'll be havin' a real good one!"
Tamora watched him leave, and she could hear him giggle as soon as the doors shut. She leaned against the table and waited a few minutes before going after him.
"Oh, he'll be having a real good one, alright."
—
Tapper shook his head as he watched them leave, wiping up the table and cup that Felix had been drinking from.
"What an odd pair." He murmured, but there was a hint of a smile on his lips.
