Okay is it just me or does anyone else view Y/N as an individual person?

As in they are a COMPLETELY separate character.

Like their name is LITERALLY "Y/N" and not just a self-insert character.

When I started reading Solar Lunacy by @bamsara (VERY WELL WRITTEN BTW HIGHLY RECOMMEND) (sorry for the @), I was hesitant to read it because I'm not the type of person that enjoys self-insert content. I was bored and scrolling through Insta one day and saw people recommending Solar Lunacy, so I decided to read it on a whim. First chapter in, I was immediately entranced- entranced with the way Sun and Moon were portrayed, with the plot and the well-written jokes-

What was interesting however, was how much I realized that I loved Y/N's personality.

Usually author's often make their Y/N characters very broad/vague/blank in order for readers' minds to be able to insert themselves into the story.

Time skip forward and I'm here on Tumblr following more artists just like Bam. And I've seen so many more AU's where I have fallen in LOVE with the personalities that Y/N creators give them- but at the same time, most of them still feel like the same familiar Y/N that I've gotten used to. And that's what I love so much about this particular fandom :D
