( some may think or assume that she harbors these feelings for her sworn shield, but they would be wrong. yes, the queen confides certain things with criston cole but nothing compared to gwayne or, at one time, rhaenyra. it was entirely different. ) brown eyes settle on the other across from her ... ears listening yet mind wonders somewhere else. alicent tried to be dutiful during this time & while she sits as regent but the seemingly endless droll audience after another was waring.

She had instructed the kitchens to send their luncheon to Willas's chambers, specifically the attached patio off his solar. Some days he would be so buried in his books--work or otherwise--that all concerns over food and sunlight would float away unnoticed. Margaery, knowing better than to nag, merely arranged the meal so that it would be more inconvenient to them both if he tried to refuse or waive her off.

And if he brought his books with him, she wouldn't outwardly complain.

Margaery plucked a glossy raspberry tart from the tray nearest her, bypassing the more substantial dishes entirely. The fruit was perfectly ripe, sweet and just tart enough to her exact taste. She savored it as she listened to her brother’s laments, attempting to formulate her own response while her mouth was otherwise occupied. He wasn’t asking for her help, not really. Willas was the cleverest of her brothers and passing capable of managing a handful of deceitful lordlings. This conversation was little more than commiseration between siblings. It did not deter her from offering her input anyways.

“If Father secures a position in King’s Landing, you will be the only authority in Highgarden to which they must answer.” The 'position' in question was more her own than than their father's but was a fact discussed only behind closed doors. “You may need to...encourage them to be more forthcoming."
