Kai, the ever-curious and sometimes reckless Airbender soared gracefully through the skies of the Spirit World on his glider, the vibrant colors of the realm a blur beneath him. The young Airbender reveled in the freedom and beauty of the Spirit World, a place where the rules of nature and reality seemed to bend to the will of the spirits themselves.
His sense of wonder quickly turned to alarm when Kai felt a sudden, sharp pain in his side. He looked down and saw a vine with glowing thorns snaking up from the forest below, wrapping around his waist and pulling him down towards the ground. Try as he might, Kai was not strong enough to break free from the spirit plants attacking him as venom filled his veins and he was yanked down into the dense, pulsating undergrowth.
The impact with the ground knocked the wind out of him, and Kai struggled to free himself from the vine's grip. But the more he struggled, the tighter it seemed to hold. Thorns dug into Kai’s skin, and a burning sensation spread through his body. Kai tried to summon his bending to cut the vine, but his powers seemed to be sapped by the plant's strange energy.
Desperation clawed at him as Kai fought to stay conscious. Just when he thought he might succumb to the vine's grasp, a figure appeared above him. A spirit, ethereal and luminous, waved its hand, and the vine released its hold, retreating back into the forest. The spirit extended a hand to Kai, who gratefully accepted the help.
"You must be careful, young Airbender," the spirit said, its voice gentle but firm. "The Spirit World can be as dangerous as it is beautiful."
"Thank you," Kai managed to say, wincing as he stood. "I didn’t realize the plants could be so aggressive."
"The spirit plants are often protective of their territory," the spirit explained. "You must seek refuge and healing."
Kai nodded in agreement, his vision still blurring from the pain. "Is there a place nearby where I can rest?"
"There is an ancient temple not far from here," the spirit said. "Follow me."
With the spirit's guidance, Kai made his way through the dense forest, each step a struggle as the burning pain from the thorns persisted. After what felt like an eternity, they emerged into a clearing where an ancient temple stood, its stone walls covered in glowing moss and delicate flowers.
“Thank…you?” Kai said as he held his side and looked around, realizing that the spirit was gone. Crawling up the steps of the temple, Kai leaned against a pillar and opened his robes a bit as he began treating his injuries. Maybe exploring the Spirit World solo wasn’t such a good idea after all.
"Azula, your birthday is supposed to be about what you want to do. No work, no training, nothing you would do on any other day." At least, that's how Uncle Iroh had tried to treat it during his banishment. Not that the sullen prince would ever listen to him. Now the tables were turned, and it was him trying to convince his sister to do something. Or perhaps it was more him trying to convince her that she wasn't alone. That she didn't have to be by herself and forgotten.
"Every birthday is different, because everyone likes to celebrate it differently. Sokka likes to shop, or eat his whole body weight in food. Aang likes sharing his culture with people. Katara likes being with her family and friends. I'm pretty sure a good day for Toph is bossing people around..." Zuko's words slowly died out as he started listing what his friends enjoyed for their birthdays. Hoping it would give Azula some ideas.
"Basically, what I'm saying is that today is up to you. Sure, you can spend it just like you did yesterday, or we could go out and do something. I could have the kitchen make you a cake. We could go to one of the outer islands for the day... Whatever you want."
@heirscrchd sent: " Spirits forbid something hurts and you do something about it. " (For Zuko, or any of the fire family if you want to change it up)
"Oh, I'm sorry," Zuko's words were laced with sarcasm as he began to speak. "Am I supposed to be taking advice from the girl who won't admit to the hurt that she caused others? I know the mistakes I've made. I accept the damage that I caused, and I am trying to do better. You constantly berating the choices that I make does not help! Your problem is that you're stuck in the past while I'm trying to build a future!"
“I have reached the finish line!” And I followed you because I thought your blog looked interesting, its aesthetics are interesting and I'm always looking for some new writing buds! I'm also on the spectrum so it's neat to meet others on here too :D Plus you have a Korra muse lol and I'm always interested to see other people's takes on LoK and the fandom stuff in general. I also want to note, on your blog, the "ask" link doesn't seem to be working? (at least for me)
Thank you for reading! And yes I do, actually. I haven't been using her much lately but she's definitely always available for interactions stuff! Having more writing buddies is always great, that I can totally agree with. I also love crossovers so you are welcome to write with my other muses too.
