image of Hekate as the chthonic sun, from a vision that came to me in ritual last month
i have high ambitions for this one, both to digitally ink and to traditionally ink and watercolor, but i'm pretty fucking happy with these pencils as-is

A few terms I think more Hellenic Polytheists should know 💕
Arete- the concept of excellence, virtue, and living to your fullest potential. It pleases the Gods as you being the best version of yourself makes a positive difference in the world.
Sophrosyne- moderation and self control. This goes against Hubris, so it's essential for a good relationship with the Gods
Hubris- arrogance, specifically towards the Gods.
Eusebia- piety. Propperly honoring the Gods, your ancestors, your family, and even yourself.
Kharis- the reciprocal relationship of grace and understanding between the Gods and mortals.
Xenia- the value that you should be a good host to guests in your home. Any traveller could be a God in disguise. This extends to you being a a good guest in other's homes, too. Abusing xenia is an offence against the Gods.
Hagneia- ritual and spiritual purity. It involves cleaning yourself physically as well as spiritually of miasma, especially before worship.
Miasma- the idea of spiritual pollution or contamination. It's what separates us from the divine. It can be collected from being around death, blood, childbirth, ect and is not a "sin" or anything so to speak, but rather a byproduct of living.
Khernips- traditional water used to wash the hands (and face) before worship to clean yourself of miasma.
Sophia and Philosophia- wisdom and the love of wisdom. The pursuit of knowledge and intellect are spiritual virtues.
ok so i talked to Aphrodite for the first time in a long while (2-3 years, and back then it was just a nightly prayer). I lit a candle and prayed, did some skincare and read some stuff about her on theoi .com, gave her an apple (which i later ate with some cinnamon, i told her i was going to do this when i offered it) and poured her some water.
and i've gotta be honest (i even told her this), besides one small point during the prayer (which was maybe more because of the contents of the prayer) i did feel pretty disconnected and almost doubtful (which i know is totally ok in helpol).
also just looking around for the past few days i've seen people with such a great love for the gods that i guess i just don't feel yet? is this normal when you're just starting out? like do you typically have to develop kharis before you start to feel more connected to them and feel their presence? how do you guys deal with doubt especially just starting out/starting to get back into helpol?
i would really appreciate hearing anything a little more experienced helpols have to say about this /gen
Happy Hekate’s Deipnon! Had a quick impromptu offering during my lunch break because a) it’s Hekate’s Deipnon and b) my dog, Ted, is sick. We have to take him to the vet tomorrow.
So Hail Hekate, Lamp-Bearer, Magic One, Guardian of the Canine! I ask for her blessing upon my poor sick dog, and offered her two eggs - one clean, one I used to pull the sick from my boy. As well as a cup of honey-sweet black coffee.
Was my offering received? 4 of Wands
Celebration and achievement, I’d say she quite liked it!
What is your blessing? 3 of Wands
Progress and transition - this could apply to Ted since that was my main prayer, hopefully it means he’ll start to feel better soon!
What is your charge? The Star
Renewed hope, a spiritual journey, it’s time to let go. Guess I gotta keep being my spiritual hopeful self, let go of bad habits and look within myself. Or maybe I’ve got to help the dog go on a spiritual soul-searching journey 🤔 Time to paganize the dog it seems!
Me: *feeling the consequences of my actions*
Apollo: So what did you learn?
imagine how strong, powerful and grand you must be; to go from sheltered kore, picking flowers and being held in glass bell to becoming persephone: "bringer of the death", mistress of the underworld, on voice of being even stricter than your husband, like she just renders me breathless with her glory and strength
dionysus worship space!! i've been wanting to do this for a while, so i'm glad i got the chance to do so today!
