i'm going to be so ill. of course helena eagan and natalie kalen have ship potential. they're both young women stuck in this cult. helena resents helly, a version of her that's free and wild and able to do whatever she wants, whereas helena is stuck exactly the way her father wants her to be, and she's still not enough for him. and natalie has forfeited her words to lumon. they control her speech, her very voice is for them to use, she has nothing outside of them. helena was groomed to be the perfect face for the company, and natalie was hollowed out to be the perfect vessel for the board to speak through.
and they don't even help each other. they can't even save each other. they're both too deep in. they're stuck holding each other like inanimate dolls trying to mimic human connection, objects with beating hearts pressing their ears to each others' chests and saying "i'm okay with being empty"

i haven't even finished my second helenatalie fic yet, but i already know i'm gonna make natalie rest her head in helena's lap again. i just. love that imagery too much. placing her life in the hands of an eagan she barely knows, not because she trust her, but because of who she is. and helena accepts the warmth, the closeness, the comfort, even though it's fake and empty and nothing but a prey laying down its life before its predator, because of who she is. this is just what scared girls do with lonely girls.
