Hey Heliodor, what kinds of activities do you do to bond with Scarlet (or did anyway before you moved :()
“Haha, what didn’t we do together? She loved climbing on top of Orion whenever I took her out to see him. It took a lot of work to tell her she can have her own instead of just taking my wyvern! We’d roughhouse, and she liked finger painting with her mother and me, since my painting is on par with that little squirt’s. Usually lots of mud when we were outside too. She would shove worms in her pockets and I wouldn’t know until she tried putting some on my food at dinner. Gods do I miss that girl…”
A Wyvern Lord who is part of one of three company of knights in Cheve, Heliodore is a man that values his morals and responsibilities to the highest degree. A boisterous and genuine soul, he is always one to be a pillar of strength for others and oftentimes takes it upon himself to befriend and help others. Unfortunately, he is prone to being too idealistic. Has shockingly dark thoughts at times.
- Born in Cheve, his father was a retainer to the former king of Hoshido and has been a source of pride and inspiration for Heliodore since his youth. He grew up to be a knight like his father before him, while making a great effort to stand out and grow into his own image. His natural skill and pedigree lent to a self-assured and bold nature as a knight; which leads to him making a stir with his flashy movements and bright armor in battle.
- He has known his wife since they both were young, although he hadn’t made an effort to approach her until they were both in training to become knights of Cheve. They always competed with races or through training, and had a spark in their relationship that was obvious even before they started dating. They were wed soon after completing their training and had their daughter, Scarlet, before Heliodore was even 20.
- For some years they lived very happily, as Heliodore settled down more into blissful life as a husband and father. But unfortunately his noticeable nature as a warrior with his talented flying style and unique armor worked against him once King Garon and his son, one of the princes of Nohr, had visited Cheve. The young prince had taken a shine to the romantic ideas of knights, and to him, Heliodore was one right out of a story book.
- Despite still being fresh into his life with a young daughter, Heliodore was chosen to be a retainer for the prince at the royal’s behest. With Nohr’s oppressive rule looming over Cheve, and no excuse to refuse as his father had been a retainer for Hoshido despite the neutrality of the nation, Heliodore had been forced to accept. He had to leave his wife and daughter in Cheve, and moved into Castle Krakenburg in Nohr for his life as retainer to royalty.
- For a long time he had resented this, yet he had tried to settle in. Despite his steadfast nature, he was not one to fight back against his situation with his country and family on the line. He easily made friends in town even if he hated why he was there.
- He wasn’t able to make many close connections in the castle, except for one of Xander’s retainers. He would often drag the younger man to go drinking and relax when he had free time. Other friends were only casual within the castle, but he connected with this man as he was also not native to Nohr.
- Heliodore had of course hated his liege at first as well, for being the one who plucked him away from his family to live as a soldier and servant for a country he didn’t love. But slowly over time he realized this prince revered knights, and even dreamt of being one someday. He began to think perhaps he really was just a young boy who didn’t fully realize what his actions caused or the political tension underneath it, and just wanted someone he considered the ideal knight to be his protector.
- A man born and raised in a militaristic, yet close knit community, Heliodore thought it no problem to let his liege leave the castle and explore the town as he wished. He saw the boy wanted to just have fun and explore when he felt lonely or bored, and thought it was good for him to learn to be independent from all these knights and advisors who would rather have him tucked away in the castle. He often pretended to be unaware when he snuck out, but he truly didn’t know where he was going.
- For many years he had been the prince’s retainer, receiving letters from home and forging many bonds while in Nohr, even if he never grew out of his resentment of the king, the country, or his situation. He missed his family terribly, but he didn’t see any way he could ever see them. Realistically, he’d never see them again. But he did not want to stir Garon into action against Cheve.
- Then one day, his liege didn’t return after sneaking out.
- The castle was notified as well as King Garon himself. Heliodore was given the ultimatum of finding his son, or else he would face dire consequences. After several days spent looking, the prince was declared dead. Heliodore would follow shortly after.
- Heliodore was executed by Garon for allowing his son to be killed by what was assumed to be Hoshidan operatives. Scarlet only had her father when she was a little girl, and heard of how he had died at the king of Nohr’s hands.
- His wyvern was spared his fate, and was sent back to his grieving family in Cheve. Many people who had known Heliodore had felt it was cruel and sadistic to force him into servitude only to murder him in the end. Dissatisfaction with Nohrian rule grew.
