If Sage were to live in a real world city, where would it be?

So, there's two different answers to this -

New Asteria, analogously, would map to an independent city in the sinosphere - places such as Macau, Singapore, and Hong Kong for reference. So if he were to live in a modern day equivalent to New Asteria, I'd probably pick Singapore because it's a major hotbed for scientific research in that part of the world :).

Then there's accounting for his background and upbringing as a character , being from a fairly working class poor family moving to a "big city" to get a job in research and development in botanical fields. I've coded him to be hdg-appalachian of sorts, so to account for the relative distance and work opportunities, he'd be living in a tech center like Raleigh, North Carolina, or Toronto, Canada.
