There was something decidedly awkward about running face first into someone while backpacking around Germany, trying to meet up with your foster mother, and then running into said person again while waiting tables at a high school friend’s cafe in Paris. (which actually hadn’t been what suzaku was expecting shirley to cash that long-ago favor in for. desperate times and all that.)
Clearing his throat, Suzaku smiled and hoped it didn’t look to strained.
“Sorry to keep you waiting,” he apologized, tapping his pen against the small pad of paper. “Are you ready to order?”
