What sort of wheel is it on the Wheel of Fortune card? I've never seen anything like it before.
it’s a chaff cutter! an oldschool hand-cranked one. usually used for chopping up hay and such for animal feed. most of the references in this deck are agricultural/folk in some respect or another.
because they were largely hand-operated (and in some households in punjab still are) they were notorious for cutting off more than a couple of fingers, hence the hands on the card.
OC fact: Roland is highly invested in human nutrition, though he hasn't eaten anything in like seventy years
Foxglove was raised fae, and has fae eating habits, which caused a small crisis after learning he was actually human. Hooray accidental cannibalism?
If you were to recast Avatar: The Last Airbender with Tinderbix characters, how would you do it?
oh my god. This is so hard because a lot of the characters for Tinderbox (aka Boot Hill) were directly inspired by characters from ATLA, but have obviously developed on their own as unique and separate from their source. BUT UM:
Aang: Linds (I guess? I’m not sold on this casting but he doesn’t really fit anyone else, either)Katara: EmersonSokka: ChapmanZuko: Fortun (literally inspired by Zuko)Toph: MorrisJet: FinchTy Lee: JamEarth King Kuei Hou-Ting: BastAzula: Contentianne (literally inspired by Azula)

@hellalambs is it part one of a novel or the first novel in a series? because Barebones is 23 scenes total, with varying lengths. either way though, write it to the length it needs to be first, then make cuts where you can
That’s the first section of the first novel. It’s 24,379 words. There’s some stuff that needs rewriting, but not many cuts as there’s very little fluff to it? IDK we’ll see how the rewrite goes.
R!
So I named Rooster after a character from the novel The Iron Dragon’s daughter as a sort of gift for @madnessmadness. He’s half-fae and sees the future, and has a lot of anxiety about it. His favorite color is purple, he has a big Triumph motorcycle and a cat named Peaches. He’s also Cajun, has a lot of half and adopted sibling he adores, and has a cute witch gf.
3, 4 ,6
3. which 3+ songs would make up a playlist for the novel?
So I have a 50+ song playlist on youtube that’s mostly just ambient Irish trad songs, but some songs that are particularly good for the novel are:
Heirloom by Sleeping at Last
The Blood of Cu Chulainn by Jeff and Mychael Danna
The King of the Fairies by the Irish Rovers
4. what’s the time period and location in which the novel takes place?
Modern day Seattle! A lot of it takes place in the underground, but Pike’s and Pioneer Square show up a lot too.
6. are there any former titles you’ve considered but discarded?
No More Snakes! is my working title, and tbh it probably won’t stick long. It’s the name of the main character’s Irish punk band.
