the best part about the vees is that all three of them are absolutely convinced that they are the loadbearing element of the trio and that the other two would totally crash out without them around to babysit. and the even better part is that somehow all three of them are absolutely right.

underrated thing actually: Val and Velvette low-key losing their minds post-s2 as they're forced to contend with how much they actually did rely on Vox being stable enough to regulate their behavior and protect them from the consequences of their actions, and the 180 role reversal really wasn't something either of them was prepared for. Not only do they have to protect Vox from himself, which is hard enough, they also have to start taking responsibility for THEMSELVES in ways they barely even realized they were exempt from

incidentally one fun side effect of Velvette dating her models is that it makes Vox the only Vee who DOESN'T actively prey on his employees. not out of any moral objection or even pragmatic restraint, but because he barely even processes his workers as individuals distinct from their functions, let alone people he might conceivably develop some kind of mutual relationship with. Ethan has been working for him literally since they were both human and Vox still routinely forgets who he is, if only because recognizing him would require actually having the common decency to look up when his employees talk to him. he might feed you to his sharks for failing to perform with the tireless speed and unfailing accuracy of a fine-tuned machine but by god you can rest assured there will be nothing personal about it when he does

utterly convinced that the initial staticmoth dynamic consisted of Val very purposefully setting out to seduce Vox at any cost. He saw this charming, self-serious, transparently insecure bundle of repressed emotions and internalized homophobia and immediately thought 'just fucking him isn't enough, I need to be personally responsible for breaking through every inhibition that sad bisexual wreck has.' all while vox was equally intent on courting valentino into some kind business arrangement, blissfully oblivious to what he was walking into. and like, obviously the operation was a resounding success, only at some point over the course of Val's slow, ruthlessly systematic assault on Vox's ability to perform some simulacrum of respectable heterosexuality he caught the most abominable case of feelings imaginable and never fucking recovered

given how defensive velvette is about being the youngest overlord and lacking wisdom or experience because of it, it is very significant to me that vox's philosophy of innovation and obsessive trend-chasing means hes not only unlikely to disregard her based on her age, but actively counts it as an asset. I like to imagine that one of the reasons he partnered with her in the first place is that he needed someone who understood the whole 'social media' thing, not just to manage voxtek's image but show him how to do the same. he recognized she knew something he didn't and considered her worth learning from, and thats kind of everything to her? ofc he's still a condescending asshole sometimes (a lot of the time) but that's because he's a self-absorbed megalomaniac with an ego problem, not because he doesn't respect her, specifically, and that's a lot more tolerable. in exchange she very generously doesn't call him old unless he's being, like, REALLY annoying for some reason. this too is a love language.

the thing about the vees to me is that they all love each other, absolutely and unconditionally. but they're also all extremely awful, selfish, vindictive, and generally socially maladapted people, which means they all kind of objectively suck at expressing that love in ways that aren't actively harmful to each others emotional and sometimes material well-being, even when they are trying to be helpful (which they aren't, always! sometimes they're spiteful little cunts on purpose!!). and those two truths being able to exist simultaneously is what evil found family is all about.

the thing you've got to understand about val being the bimbo trophy wife to vox's ceo sugar daddy is that these are costumes they have chosen to put on. like YES it is a real part of their dynamic but it is part of their dynamic that is consciously performed by both parties because it in some way satisfies them both. vox gets to feel needed and have his ego boosted through the affectation of effortless competence and authority, while Val gets to feel valued and be doted on and—lets be honest—he probably kinks on vox treating him in that immensely condescending but unconditionally placating way we've been seeing come and go since their first scene together. and both of them get the security of their relationship existing within an easily recognizable framework that demands very little from them emotionally. there's a lot more going on in their relationship, but the cliche is always there to hide behind when they need it. literally, they are doing a bit.

I think Alastor would sexually harass Vox just within the limits of plausible deniability and then gaslight him about it when he reacts accordingly. After all, only the most desperate, delusional degenerate in Hell could ever imagine that Alastor might start taking sexual interest in him, of all people! Really, does he ever think about anything else? What an absolute creep.
