A/n: I wrote this with 2019 Hellboy in mind, but I think you can read it as del Toro's Hellboy too. Also, I know nothing about the comics, only the movies, so please don't kill me if something is incorrect.
Warnings: Mentions of insecurity, jealousy and existencial crisis, let me know if I missed anything.

Dates usually consist of staying in, ordering takeout or pizza and watching tv, maybe playing some video game or listening to Red playing his guitar. But if you ask him, he’ll take you out to somewhere nice, as long as it’s not too crowded, he’d hate to hear his dad complaining about him going out in public.
He likes lots of different games, though his favorites are nostalgic ones or horror and chaotic ones, he’d say his favorite was Doom if it didn’t make him have an existential crisis every time he plays (a guy killing demons, just like him, while he is also a “demon”, messes with him a bit).
In long car rides he puts his playlist on the car’s speakers and looks at you every 5 seconds to see your reaction. If you like his songs, he’ll go full music expert mode and tell you about his favorite artists and concerts. If you don’t like them, he’ll show you different genres to see which one pleases you more. He’s open to hear your music too, and if he ends up not liking it, he’d tolerate them to a point, as long as you’re happy.
For someone with that body, he’s surprisingly lazy. When not on missions and working out, he’s lying on the couch, doing anything that doesn’t require too much effort. When he’s exercising, though? He gives all of him, lifting dumbbells twice your weight on each arm, sweat glistering on his shirtless chest and veins popping with the all the force he’s using. It’s a gorgeous sight, and he’s quite a show-off when working out, so if he catches you staring, he’ll flex in all kinds of poses to your enjoyment.
A little bit jealous when he sees you with agents. He’s not the controlling type, tough, it’s more of a fear that someday you’ll realize who you’re dating and leave him. He’d act all snappy during the whole conversation, well, your conversation, as he’d be quiet the whole time. It’s impossible not to notice, so the best thing would be to take him to a secluded corner and smush him in affection or to give him a kiss right in front the person you’re talking to. Just a quick thing to remind him you’re together because you love him, nobody else.
He sometimes invites friends over to his place, often times to have a jam session or just to relax with video games or sports. He’d love it if you got along with his friends, and would try to make you feel comfortable around them. If for whatever reason one of them made you feel uncomfortable, he’d take that into consideration and avoid bringing them home when you’re there, or even end their relationship, depending on what they did.
If that’s your thing too, he’d love to have jams with just the two of you, even performing some love songs to you, in his own laid-back way. If you mention liking a specific song that he could play on the guitar, he’d learn it and play for you during these moments.
He frequently asks you to google and call people on his phone, as he’s broken it too many times when trying to use it. Speaking of, his phone is quite simple, few apps installed and not much personalization, except for the wallpaper, which he insisted on being a picture of you both. His ringtone is a heavy metal song that always startles everyone around, but he seems used to it by now and refuses to change it.
Sleeps like a rock and snores loud, he can sleep anywhere at any time, he’s basically a nightmare for light sleepers. On the good side, you can do whatever you want to him and he’ll only know when he wakes up a few hours later. He likes having you close when going to bed, which means cuddling is ideal. He’s fine with whatever position, but he specially loves to have your head on his chest and one arm draped over you.
He eats for a whole family. All you can eat restaurants fear him. With reason, that body won’t be maintained with little food. When you two order pizza you better take your slices as soon as it arrives ‘cause he can effortlessly eat it all by himself. It happened once and he felt terrible that he forgot to leave a few slices for you, so he’s more mindful now. Still, you should try to prevent it.
The tail. At the beginning he felt really awkward when you mentioned or even looked at it, but with time he feels more comfortable. When you try to touch it, he playfully smacks your hand with it, giving you a hard time to try and catch it by darting it around, eventually giving up and letting you have it. To be honest he doesn’t care about what you find so endearing about it, as long as you don’t squeeze and do weird stuff with it. When you two are sitting close to each other or on the bed to sleep, his tail wraps itself around your legs. He says it’s unconscious, but you can’t be 100% sure as he often uses it to grab stuff when he can’t reach with his hands.
Like the tail, he’s fine with you touching the rock hand, what he’s not comfortable with, however, is mentioning the horns or hooves. He’d let it brush aside the first times, but once he knows you better and truly trusts you, he asks you to not mention about them, and you don’t need an explanation, having seen the way he looks at them on the bad days.
He likes it when you paint his nails, even if you’ve never done it before and it ends up looking wonky, since he can’t paint them by himself. Something he adores, but is a bit more critical about, is when you play with his hair and beard. Once again, do whatever you want, when it’s just you and him, you can let your imagination run wild and make all types of hairstyles, he’ll even let you take funny pictures of him in pigtails. Just not in public, when going out he asks you to make the classic half bun.
His place has a huge shower, so you can shower together without being cramped. He’s not the most delicate person but he’ll take extra care when washing your body and hair. Speaking of, he won’t ask, but he wants you to wash his hair for him, he’ll lower his head for you with a satisfied grin on his face. He also lets you wash him, if you want, it’s only that he might be a bit too self-conscious, seeing the differences of yours and his body always leaves him thoughtful, so these moments are the few times where it’s all about intimacy and comfort, absent of the usual snarky remarks and playfulness.
He's also super messy. He can’t keep his place tidy to save his life, it’s either that he was too busy away on missions and when he gets back he’s too tired to clean everything up, or that the mess doesn’t bother him too much, so why change it? Needless to say, if you want to be in clean place, you’d either have to do it yourself or annoy him for days until he’s pissed enough to do it.
He's not very creative with pet names, he’d go by the basic “love” or “babe”. Doesn’t mind if you give him interesting pet names, though, he’s more amused than irritated when you call him cheesy in front of other people.
Overall, he’s an amazing person, and an even better boyfriend, just the right amount of sarcasm and tenderness. To most he seems rough around the edges, but with his partner he’d be the best he could, even when sometimes he himself doesn’t believe to be worthy of your love.
