𝓘t was a mind unlike anything she had ever sensed, even with her powers having been drastically weakened by the city. Not a human, but definitely something else superhuman, supernatural. Jean just couldn’t place what it was.
And that was just his mind. She ducked out from behind the corner, green eyes widening at the sight. None of the surprise was hidden from her expression ---- she felt too deeply for that. Fire engulfed his skull, but he wasn’t a mutant. That, she could tell.
She was not a soldier, not a fighter. Not yet at least. Her fear still too strong, it still controlled her. Her presence must have been noticed, but without access to the full range of her telepathic powers, there wasn’t much that Jean could do to hide herself. Her lips parted, but no words came out until a few moments later. “I--- that--- that doesn’t hurt, does it?”
