Two men killed as explosion rips through industrial centre
Two people have been killed in a suspected explosion at an industrial estate in Norfolk. The men, one aged in his 50s and one in his 20s, both thought to work at the premises in Hellesdon, died at the scene of the incident, which happened shortly after 9am. No-one else needed medical attention. The suspected blast is understood to have happened in the paintshop area of a warehouse run by Harford Attachments, which makes buckets for diggers.
Officers can confirm that two people have sadly died at the scene of an industrial incident which happened earlier this morning (Monday) in Hellesdon.
Norfolk Police statement
Initial reports suggested an explosion had taken place at the unit on Spar Road. Smoke could be seen rising from the scene, which was attended by the emergency services, including the air ambulance. Surrounding roads remained closed to traffic. The East Anglian Air Ambulance crew did not include the Duke of Cambridge, who began work with the charity today.
