absolutely drooling. I BEG OF YOU for more needy boyfriend mike wheeler
i'm not jealous ══ Mike Wheeler
Volleyball was your thing, you couldn't help it that you were amazing at it—and looked even better during the games. You also couldn't help that your boyfriend was a little too obsessive after seeing you play. But you weren't complaining...

MIKE WHEELER HAD an issue. An all-consuming, intense, overwhelming, obsessive issue. One so borderline embarrassing that he would immediately blush fiercely and deny at any mention. And that issue?
His beautiful girlfriend in her volleyball uniform.
It wasn’t fair, he reasoned. How good you looked in it. The long sleeve top was just tight enough to show off your curves and the dips of your muscle. The bow that flopped up and down with your long ponytail anytime you jumped up for a spike. And the biggest object of his obsession?
The short little spandex shorts that hugged your ass and made your legs look ten times longer than they already were.
So yeah, it wasn’t fair. And it was most certainly not his fault that sometimes he got a little too worked up about it after a game—or every game, matter of fact.
But he was a teenage boy after all.
Anyone with eyes could see just how good you looked on that court, cheering every single time you soared from the ten-foot line and spiked the ball into the opposing team's face.
In fact, that was kind of Mike’s issue now.
The stands in the Hawkins’ High gymnasium were filled with cheering fans, students and family alike. Mike stood in the student section with Max and Will, watching the game with wide eyes as the Tigers slowly came back from a five-point deficit. All because of you and your ability to smack the ball so hard that your serve basically left the other team defenseless.
After another ace, the team gathered in the middle, screaming a familiar chant. Your voice was the loudest out of all of them, ecstatic as you played one of the best games of your career. As you walked back toward the end line, you looked over towards the student section for just a moment, your eyes immediately catching Mike’s.
You flashed him a smile when you saw the green and orange facepaint on his cheeks. It warmed your heart immediately, having his support made everything feel so much more euphoric. His attention made the adrenaline burn hotter.
Mike wanted to faint on the spot when you smiled at him. He felt like the luckiest guy in the world, knowing that you were his. And everyone at Hawkins’ High knew it.
But that didn’t mean that people from other schools did.
Behind you, in the opposing student section, were two jocks wearing stupid red varsity jackets, watching your every move like vultures. Mike noticed them immediately, the way they looked at you with their eyes clouded over. How they whispered things back and forth between one another whenever you moved.
He felt a sickening heat take over his body, replacing the joy he once felt.
Immediately he started glaring at them, his attention drifting from you to them. Max felt him stiffen from his spot next to her and looked over at him from the corner of her eye. Her eyebrows raised when she noticed the hard glare on his face.
“What’s your deal, Wheeler?”
Mike didn’t answer. He didn’t even cheer as you scored again.
Max waved her hand in front of his face, trying to snap him out of it. As Max did so, Will followed Mike’s gaze then smirked immediately, letting out a small little laugh. He nodded his head towards the jocks, “I think I know what’s going on.”
Max followed Will’s gesture and immediately started to laugh, not even bothering to contain it. The crowd clapping covered the noise, but Mike heard it, his ears immediately flushing red as Max asked, “Are you jealous, Mike?”
Mike finally broke his stare, his eyes wide and offended as he locked eyes with Max—who seemed to be enjoying this far too much. He scoffed, “Why the hell would I be jealous of those mouthbreathers? She would never even look their way.”
Max’s eyebrows pinched together, “Then what do you think you’re doing exactly?”
The opposing team called a timeout as the score tied, hoping to ice you out. Mike stopped for just a moment to watch as you made your way to the bench for a drink of water, staring at the droplet of water that leaked from the bottle and down your jaw to your neck.
He swallowed hard, then forced himself to look away.
The two jocks were laughing about something, which pissed Mike off even more. He crossed his arms over his chest, his lips pulled into a thin line, “Those assholes are staring at my girlfriend. That’s my deal.”
Will cheered for you as you walked up to the line again, letting out something encouraging. Then he rolled his eyes, not even looking at Mike. “You can’t help the fact that your girlfriend's hot.”
Mike’s eyes widened in shock, feeling a little betrayed by Will. His best friend just shrugged, “It’s frankly hard not to stare at her. God knows you have a hard time not.”
Max fought to contain her smirk, about to add to Will’s comment. Mike stopped her immediately, glaring at her, “Shut up, Max.”
Max bit her lip, "Will's just pointing out the obvious. Now, stop focusing on them and pay attention to the game. She won’t be your girlfriend much longer if you miss her kicking ass.”
Suddenly, Mike remembered what he was truly there for and immediately focused on you. Afraid that what Max had said would come true. And god knows what Mike would do if that were to happen…

The energy of the locker room was high, to say the least. Somehow, you and the girls managed to pull it together. The taste of victory was so sweet, you all were riding on a wave of euphoria.
Even though the sweat on your body clung to your skin in a way that immediately made you want to rush home and take a shower, you went back into the gym, excited to see your friends and family.
Your parents quickly greeted you, congratulating you on your amazing performance then smiled when they told you they’d see you when you got home.
They didn’t even need to ask if you needed a ride home because they knew that Mike would always be there to take you back, your ever doting boyfriend.
Who was nowhere to be seen as Max and Will replaced the spot your parents once occupied.
Will hugged you first, the smile on his face, wide and happy. You smiled and squeezed him back. “Thanks for coming, Will. I appreciate you always cheering me on.”
Will pulled away, “Of course! Watching you has actually really made me want to play. How badass you are made me get into it.”
Max smirked from behind him, her eyes flicking behind you for just a moment, “You’re not the only one who’s into it.”
She shared a look with Will, whose lips quirked up slightly as he followed her gaze. Your eyebrows furrowed, “What are you guys talking about?”
You turned around to see what they were looking at and saw two guys wearing red varsity jackets walking towards you. Your eyes widened immediately, watching as they smirked under your attention.
Their teenage confidence rolled off of them in waves, waves you weren’t willing to catch.
When you turned back around, your back to the boys, Will and Max were nowhere to be seen.
Assholes. Those two always seemed to be scheming about something and this was no different.
One of them cleared their throats and slowly, you turned around, your lips pulled into a thin line as you faked a smile. He smirked, sharing a look with his friend, “Hey, great game. We couldn’t look away.”
Although it killed you, you just continued to smile politely, knowing better than to deny the complement. No matter how ill intended the last words seemed. “Thanks, it’s not often people from the other school tell me that.”
“You thinking about playing in college? We’re both going to IU in the fall for lacrosse, might be nice to see you around.” The one talking took a step closer to you, a look in his eyes.
You took a step back, shaking your head, looking for a clear and easy way to tell them to back off. “Um. I haven't really decided yet. My boyfri-”
An arm wrapped around the front of your shoulders from behind, pulling you into a warm chest. Immediately, your tense shoulders relaxed from the contact. Knowing from the way they held you exactly who it was. You leaned back into the touch, your once nervous heartbeat slowing.
His other arm ghosted against your hip, its presence clear, but not showy. Not in front of all of these people. That wasn’t you two at all, regardless of how possessive and jealous Mike undoubtedly felt.
He kissed your cheek, his long hair tickling your neck. The smile on your face was evident, white teeth on display.
Mike looked up, still holding onto you, his neck slightly craned enough to allow him to rest his head in the crook of your neck. His eyes narrowed at the two jocks in front of you, his eyebrows downturned and expressive. He tried to hold back the displeasure in his voice, failing horribly. You tried not to smirk as he said, “You two have a good night.”
The guys rolled their eyes, looking between you and Mike like you were two puzzle pieces that didn’t fit. Honestly, most people at Hawkins still looked at the two of you that way. You were athletic and bubbly, all easy smiles and school spirit. Mike was tall, awkward, and painfully nerdy.
But none of that had ever mattered to either of you. The two of you looked at each other like no one else existed.
And freshman year, after Mike came back from summer break a little taller, a little more cut around the edges, and suddenly impossible to ignore, you realized your crush on him was turning into something you couldn’t deny. The rest was history, even if half the school still couldn’t believe it.
The two jocks made no attempt to leave, so the arm around your shoulder traced down your arm to your hand, interlacing your fingers. Mike pulled gently, turning you away from them as he started to pull you through the gym. Far away from the jocks.
He didn’t stop, even as you two reached the exit. You planted your feet, pulling both of you to a stop, “Mikey, stop, I still haven’t talked to Becky or Sarah yet.”
Mike didn’t hide his annoyance, biting his tongue, “You’ll see them at school Monday.”
Your eyebrows raised. Mike only got like this around you occasionally, whiny and annoyed. Typically when something went wrong at school or when he couldn’t figure out where the story should go for the group’s next campaign.
Mike didn’t wait for you to say anything else, just tugged your hand again. You willingly followed, unable to deny him as he led you down the hallways, clearly on a mission. Your legs ached from the pace he walked at, the adrenaline of the game wearing off and the soreness setting in.
“Slow down, Mike. My legs hurt.”
He threw open the outside doors, holding it open for you. The cold nipped at you, the September breeze blowing your warmup jacket back. He did slow down, of course–he was a good boyfriend after all. He clearly had a motive, but not at the expense of your comfort.
Suddenly, the two of you are at the outdoor track. One overhead set of lights lit up the stadium, dim and dark as shadows covered the field. You could barely see Mike ahead of you, only catching the pale skin of his face and hands in the light.
Your heart beat against your chest, a nervousness and an excitement pooling in your stomach. You let out a short giggle, biting your lip, “What was so urgent that we had to run out here? You gonna make me do laps after winning? Tell me that my blocking was off?”
He stopped underneath the cover of the bleachers and you suddenly realized where you were. This was the spot the two of you used to sneak off to early in your relationship, when you were trying to keep things quiet. Your stomach flipped, the laugh dying in your throat as Mike turned to you, his eyes dark and hidden.
Your lips were parted as he latched onto you, his hands finding your waist, pulling you towards him as he captured your lips with his. The kiss was desperate, Mike pressing into you, his hands rubbing up and down your hips and waist, his touch searing your skin. You tried to keep up, throwing an arm around his neck to stop yourself from buckling.
Mike’s nose pressed against your cheek, tickling your skin.
You tilted your head and Mike’s tongue pushed against your lips.
A gasp left you as Mike pushed into your mouth and you pulled back, eyes wide with shock as heavy breaths escaped you. The two of you had been intensely intimate before, but this was new. This was a public space where anyone could catch you, Mike wasn’t the one for theatrics—at least not when it came to your relationship.
Mike’s hold loosened on you as you shuffled back slightly in his arms.
His jaw was slackened, his pupils blown out as he stared at you. A faint blush covered his cheeks, red enough that you could see it in the dim light. You imagined that you didn’t look much better, your clothes ruffled and your lips plump and red.
Mike was always a little more worked up after your games, it was hard not to notice the pattern. Especially when he couldn’t wait to touch you so badly that he has to pull over onto the side of the road so the two of you could make out in his car before he sneaks into your room and stays the night.
Breathlessly, you let out, “What is-”
His hand pushed into the small of your back, bringing you closer to him once again, his lips stopping you from asking questions. You hummed against his soft lips, closing your eyes once again. Your hands tangled in his hair, pulling at the dark curls against his neck.
Mike groaned as you did so, slowly walking you backwards without seeming to realize he was doing it. You gasped as your back hit the cold metal. The sound you made seemed to short-circuit something in him as his hand on your back slowly moved down to grip your ass, his hand palming you through your spandex.
Your eyes opened in shock and you pushed him back with your hand on his shoulder.
His eyes were wide and desperate as you pushed him back, a thin, silver thread between you as the kiss finally broke. Mike’s hands stayed where they were, his touch warm, almost searing you.
You searched his face as he just stared down at you, his lips parted and his chest rising and falling rapidly. Matching the rhythm of your own breathing. “Mike, what the hell is up with you?”
"I mean," He scrubbed a hand over his face. "Look at you. I can’t help it."
Mike tried to lean back in, but your hand holding him back at his shoulder remained. “Don’t play dumb with me, Mike. I can tell when you’re the normal amount of worked up.” You gestured at the lack of distance between the two of you. “You clearly just rolled a natural twenty for horny.”
His hands traveled to your waist as he threw his head back and let out a groan, “You can’t use D&D terms and expect me to calm down.”
His face grew even more red and warm, so he leaned forward and dropped his head into the crook of your neck, holding you close as he tried to calm down. You laughed as he did so, moving your hands so you could gently rub his back. Mike was an enigma sometimes, but God did you love it.
You kissed the side of his head sweetly. His arms tightened around you in response.
A smile grew across your face as you flipped roles. You whispered next to his ear, your breath hot, making him shiver, “So, you gonna tell me what’s wrong?”
Mike groaned into your shoulder, shaking his head as he refused to look at you, “It’s embarrassing.”
“Come on, you have to tell me,” You begged. A long second passed and Mike made no attempt to confess. So you added, “You can’t kiss me until you do.”
Mike straightened immediately, removing his head from your shoulder. Your eyes were filled with amusement, but Mike seemed dead serious. Almost scandalized, like a kid who just got told no for the first time. “Now you’re going too far.”
You shrugged. Attempting to shuffle out of his hold, you let go of him and tried to step away, but Mike grabbed you before you could. You looked at him expectantly.
He sighed, “Fine.” He took a deep breath, unable to look you in the eyes suddenly, “I hate that other guys think they have a chance with you. It’s annoying.”
You smiled wickedly and traced your fingers down his face, admiring the slight pout of his full lips, “Those boys really got under your skin during the game, didn’t they.”
“Huh?” Mike looked genuinely caught off guard when he noticed the expression on your face, “You knew?”
You bit your lip, staring up at him through your lashes, “Michael Wheeler, I’m not stupid. I have eyes. I know you were glaring at them. Just wanted to see how long it took for you to admit you were jealous.”
Air pushed through his nose as he tried to hide it, pouting slightly, “I am not jealous.”
You leaned in, hovering towards his lips. Mike eagerly went to meet you, but you pulled back. Enjoying the effect you had on him. You would make him confess, even if it ended up with him begging you.
You tilted your head, like you had just proved your point, “Michael.”
He traced lines against your hip, muttering under his breath, “I just didn’t like them looking at you.”
You fought back a grin, “That is literally jealousy.”
His blush spread against his skin, going as far as his neck and onto his chest, where a sliver of his skin was revealed underneath his flannel, “No, it’s—”
You bit your lip, trying to contain your amusement and just how much you liked seeing him all worked up like this, “Possessiveness?”
Mike caught your movement in the corner of his eye, fully turning his face back towards you to watch as your teeth grazed the bottom of your lip. Suddenly, his face grew serious, all the previous embarrassment wiped clean as if he suddenly remembered who he was in front of and just how enamoured he was with you.
His shoulders loosened, “…Maybe.”
You barely had time to react before he kissed you again. This time it wasn’t messy, but it wasn’t restrained either. It had weight behind it. The frustration Mike felt was still there, the jealousy still lingering under it, but all of it redirected into something focused entirely on you.
He leaned into you, pressing deeper, his hands remaining on your waist as he steadied you against him. Your fingers curled into his shirt without thinking.
When you finally broke the two of you apart for air, Mike rested his forehead against yours for a moment, breathing hard like he was trying to reset his thoughts back into something tangible. His voice was a little hoarse, incredibly desperate, “Please let me stay the night tonight.”
You pretended to think for a moment, your own heart thrumming quickly against your chest. Mike let out a whine, “Please. Please. Please.” He dragged out the e, his eyebrows pinching in tightly.
You laughed, warm and happy, then traced your fingernail against his chest, “Only if you take me out for ice cream.”
Mike didn’t hesitate, pulling back from you with a grin, “Done. Immediately done.”
He looked at his watch, “Shit, they close in thirty. We gotta go.”
He laced his fingers in yours and started to pull you away, almost breaking out in a jog to the parking lot. The two of you took turns laughing the entire way to the car, so caught up in the love you felt for one another.
You don’t know how or why you were so lucky, but Mike Wheeler was something else. And you loved just how obsessed and needy he could get—only because of you.
