NOTE: Happy posthumous birthday to Darby Crash on this day, born September 26, 1958 -- another legend lost. HAIL! 🎂🕯🎤💢
PIC INFO: Spotlight on American punk rock vocalists/songwriters/scene-makers Jello Biafra (DEAD KENNEDYS), Darby Crash (THE GERMS), and Hellin Killer (of L.A. punk girl gang THE PLUNGERS), somewhere in L.A., c. late '70s. 📸: ❓ Jenny Lens?
Can't find much background info behind this shot, and I could be totally wrong about this pic being taken somewhere in L.A. Does anyone know if Darby Crash & co. ever made it up to SF for some gigs?

«Punk superstars, the way we were: Alice Bag, Belinda Carlisle (pre-Go-Go's), Hellin Killer, Pleasant Gehman. August 21, 1977, North Hollywood.» by Jenny Lens
‘Scent of (punk) female’: Alice Bag, Belinda Carlisle, Lorna Doom, Jane Wiedlin, Hellin Killer, Pleasant Gehman and many more punk ladies at The Masque, Hollywood’s place-to-be for early LA punk scenesters, as documented by Jules Bates in 1977.
“...The Masque quickly developed into a local Hollywood underground clubhouse. Here, 24/7 - about a hundred punks would come and play their music, party and just hang out. Brendan was the leader to every kind of street urchin and ragamuffin that walked the streets of Hollywood Boulevard. These Hollywood street kids consisted primarily of; geeks, freaks, gays, ex glam rockers, social outsiders, misfits, abused teenagers, outcast, runaways, artist and musicians. Kids came to the Masque 'cause they didn't fit in anywhere else....”

Alice Bag (front woman of The Bags), Belinda Carlisle (aka ‘Dottie Danger’ at the time, just a year away from forming The Go-Gos), Hellin Killer (the female persona who would turn punk legend the next year, when she’d bash Sid Vicious with his bass during one of the few Sex Pistols shows in the U.S.) and Pleasant ‘Puss’ Gehman (the underground punk clubworld's "It" girl), in other words the vibrant and colorful female world of the early LA punk scene, shot during the summer of 1977 in the unrivaled style of Jenny Lens.
