Disclaimer - Pity Party with a happy ending.
I have been freaking out for 2 weeks in Istanbul, Turkey. I have been teaching English here for 2 years and I started my 3rd contract this September.
I can spare you the complex political details of my why job was in danger and can just say there was a small chance I was going to be deported, never again allowed to visit Turkey, let alone teach.
I was throwing a tantrum the last 2 weeks. I had even convinced myself I didn't want to live here anymore and that I was ready to move to another country and start over. I tend to end relationships that seem to be ending soon anyway, it's always been a bad habit.
My North Wind had other plans.Today I was given the good news. I am legal to keep my job, work permit, residence and I even have a code to give any inspectors should I get stopped at any borders or at the airports.
My friend Helen also happened to message me with details about a girls trip to Sofia, Bulgaria for the weekend. So, in just a few hours I will go to the bus station, cross my fingers that the border crossing goes alright and remind myself why the heck I am teaching abroad to begin with - TO TRAVEL!
