H!P is pretty much always changing, but it’s been pretty rapid these past couple of months @~@
So has Sayumi Michishige finally retired? 🥺😭
Her latest instagram post made me cry but at least I’m not crashing out as hard as Maria Makino must be because she made a whole ass In Memorium post for her 😂
If losing TikTok today wasn’t enough, my favorite idol of all time is leaving the entertainment industry; Sayumi Michishige has been diagnosed with OCD and is stepping away to take care of her health.
Sayumi Michishige was the first idol I fell in love with. My college roommate knew I liked Japanese music and dragged me to the Morning Musume concert in New York even though I’d never heard of them. Sayumi immediately caught my eye and when we got back home I couldn’t stop researching things about her career and her journey to get to where she was: the leader of Morning Musume. I didn’t realize what graduations meant at the time and I didn’t realize I’d get so attached to her when she soon did.
I cried with joy when she returned to work as a soloist, but looking back with what Sayumi said in her IG post, I wonder if it wasn’t the best idea. At the time, she said she stopped idol activities backed she thought that she lost her cuteness (she was in her early 20s so obviously not). She’s had a history of anxiety and it’s well know that when she was put in charge of two new members of Morning Musume, she nearly plucked her eyebrows completely off in stress. Her ability to keep going despite her anxieties inspired me, but I’m sad that she’s been hurting so much this whole time.
I’m going to miss her so much! I know she’ll never see this, but I hope she knows how much her fans will always love her and want the best for her. Sayumi’s brought me so much joy over the last 10 years of knowing her work that I can only hope she finds the same 🩷🐰

Country Girl's second single is being released August 5th! It's a double A-side called Wakatteiru no ni gomen ne / Tamera. There will be 4 Limited Editions and 2 Regular Editions.
