hellocutepanda replied to your post: Mr. Breck is back from watching the new Star Wars...
What did he say?
Basically, the spoilers I heard were right. Rey is just a random character, Finn does get sent off on a pointless side-mission, and Luke dies. He also said that they wrote Luke more like Mark Hamill instead of Luke Skywalker. He really enjoyed it, but I'm not liking what I'm here. Though, one thing I did appreciate is that he did say that Kylo is pretty much not going to be redeemed and, contrary to a lot of speculation, Rey/Kylo is not a thing that's going to happen.

Hang on for a ride, dude.
I’ve been binging “Who Do You Think You Are?” and my paternal grandfather’s 85th birthday is coming up, so gift, right? Whelp. I go on Ancestry.com, sign up for a trial, and hop right in.
My grandfather was born in 1932. Cool. Add that.
Oh look, his dad’s death certificate. Alfons was born in 1908 and died in 1943. Turns out he died on the march back from Belarus (German army). The certificate was issued in 1948. It gives his mom and dad’s name, so I have now discovered that my great great grandparents are Ferdinand Schwank and Frieda Mayer from Frankfurt. Alrighty. Marriage certificates!
...of which four pop up. Wait a fucking minute.
This is where it gets weird.
I realize pretty quickly that there are two Ferdinand Schwanks, a father and son. So that gets one marriage certificate out of the way, but what the fuck is up with these other three? Maybe it’s different people.
I look at Ferdinand II’s parents. It’s Ferdinand I...and not my great great grandmother.
So after lots of head scratching, here is what I came up with.
Ferdinand 1 was born in 1858. He gets married at 22 in 1880 to Theresia, who drops off into nowhere.
1891--his son Ferdinand 1 is born in MAY. He gets married in AUGUST 1891 to Anna Margaretha Brunner. OH HO HO. You scamps you.
1895--Rudolf comes along.
1901--poor little Alfonsus is born and dies 6 weeks later.
AND THEN.
1908--My great grandfather Alfons is born...to Frieda.
1913--Wilhelm arrives....to Frieda.
1915--Anna Margaretha dies at age 57 in May. August 1915? Ferdinand 1 marries Frieda. He’s 56. She’s 29. His 25 year old son Ferdinand II gets married the next year. I’m guessing Dad wasn’t invited.
Ferdinand I and Frieda have another daughter (currently unknown) and he doesn’t die until 1942 at 83. It took a case of pneumonia to bring him down and he was living in quiet retirement forever before that.
On top of that? It turns out Ferdinand I’s dad was illegitimate and married his cousin.
*takes deep breath* So. That.

Dude. Me and Miranda just got done watching the first season of The Expanse. SOOOO good.
Tell me about it. It’s so great to have some old school scifi with spaceships that is also intelligently written!

3 Random Facts...
Tagged by @hellocutepanda
1. My nails grow super fast, and my pinkie nails fastest of all, for some reason (or else I just break them off less often than my other nails); my friends regularly refer to them as my crack nails because I’ll have the two long pinkie nails, and then the rest of my nails are broken down to normal, human length.
2. I’m really sensitive to sound and can’t sleep without blocking out even everyday, ambient noises. I used to wear earplugs to bed every night, but recently I found some noise-cancelling ear buds that are actually comfortable to sleep in, so I were them now. They’re Bose and were super fucking expensive, but worth it; they block out way more than the earplugs did. I turn on the noise cancelling, put on some white noise, and I can’t hear a damn thing. You could break in and murder me and I’d never hear it coming; it’s excellent.
3. I have really small ear canals and regular foam earplugs can be incredibly painful if they’re left in too long. I can wear them for a little bit, but I always had to wear the silicone ones overnight because after a single night of the foam ones my ears would be raw and throbbed awfully. Last time I went to an ENT, she actually commented on how small they were and had to switch out her usual tools because they were too large to fit in my ear.
