Earbuds, headphones, or nothing? These days - usually nothing, because I've had some problems with my ears, and right now I'm trying to protect my hearing, so I try to listen to music or watch things with sound only when I am at home where I can just not use either earbuds or headphones. But if I really, really need to listen to something in public, then it's earbuds.

Last place I went to other than home: my workplace.

Last trailer you saw: a trailer for "I Am Love" (2009). I'm still trying to decide whether I want to watch it or not. The trailer didn't impress me that much, but one of the actors that I like is in this movie, so maybe I will try this for his sake.

hiiii oh MAN this is the kind of asks I live for!! Thanks Syn <3 Okay, so first of all, let me preface all of this by saying that this is just a funny little HC and none of this is that serious, until I decide that it is. And unfortunately, today is one of those days. I know you didn't ask for a rambling analysis so I'm gonna do my best to limit myself, but I woke up from my nap feeling very verbose about her and I could legit write an essay on this (and I nearly did before I decided this post was already long enough, lol). Bear with me:

This particular music headcanon is primarily influenced by how much time I spend thinking about how Natasha never got to have an angry teenager with shitty loud music taste phase, or at least until after she left the KGB at which point it's probably a little belated (whenever you wanna place that—I think it works for both older-than-she-seems comics-influenced Nat and for MCU Nat who actually might've still been a teenager, seeing as how she was born in the 80s and presumably left the Red Room in the 90s/early 2000s—which is a great era for trashy music, btw) and is also a little uh, bloodier than your average turbulent adolescence warrants. So I like to imagine that in that post-Red Room, pre-SHIELD period she ends up being somewhat of a wild cannon, and I think there's a strain of that near-feral 14-yearold willing to do whatever just to prove herself in her that sticks around even after she's brought in and has reformed that carefully poised Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff/Natalie Rushman/etc persona around herself. And that comes out in weird ways.

So: I don't think the stuff she listens to is always actually all that trashy individually, BUT in my head it's just a great contrast and very fun to imagine that her taste in the present sometimes sucks and is just a little eclectic and a little confusing and loud and seemingly stuck in a perpetual teenage crisis moment and severely at odds with her overall presentation. (And then there's also the other side of things where she listens to old Soviet ballads when she gets particularly nostalgic and/or maudlin, but that's a story for a different time.) All of that to say: I just have fun thinking about her blasting some atrocious combination of black metal and 2000s pop anthems and industrial techno and eurotrash and 80s hair rock and Russian/Eastern Bloc hip hop at random times, and I need you to imagine her doing this while simultaneously slamming down her nth caffeinated drink while speeding 30 over the limit and absolutely wrecking the soundsystem of whatever little shitcan she's driving. Like the first time she comes to pick Sam and Steve up from some motel or little quaint B&B or whatever during their post-CATWS European Hunt for BuckyTM she pulls up in like an old Lada or Trabant or Yugo with this mixtape blasting and the two of them are just like. Hi ??????????

Anyway, okay. This is in NO way definitive, just some random picks off the top of my head and from my existing playlists (lol):
