Hello! I’m back with another post in the “here’s how you can help Because We’re Here” series! This might be of interest if you’ve enjoyed Act I, or if you’ve only just discovered the game and you like the sound of a thoughtful World War One-themed otome VN~
As mentioned, Act II wasn’t as ‘coming in June’ as I had thought. But it’s still due for release this summer, and there’s still a lot you can do to help spread BWH to new audiences and boost its profile in time to get Act II off to the best possible start when it does come out!
2.) Rate and/or Comment on Itch.io!
From the Act II launch onwards, I’m going to shift my main focus from Steam to Itch.io! For the uninitiated, Itch is a very cool site with more of a focus on indie games. It has much less brutal algorithms than Steam - BWH might potentially be able to get some organic growth if I concentrate on Itch, whereas I definitely don’t have the clout to pull something like that off on Steam. :’)
It also gives developers a much better cut! And although Itch’s versions of games are standalone DRM-free downloads, you can also set it to give out Steam keys with each purchase - which I have now done with BWH’s Itch page. ;D
So! I’ve kind of neglected Act I on Itch thus far, but if you have an account, you can help fix that! Itch’s formulas are affected by each game’s user rating - so it’d really help the project out if you could give it 5 stars~ (Or whatever you feel! I tend to always rate everything 5 stars if I’ve enjoyed it even the mildest amount, hahaa - it’s Person vs Algorithm in this crazy Game Make world.) As far as I know, no purchase is necessary to rate or comment on Itch.
[Because We’re Here ~Act I~ is on Itch.io HERE]
There’s also the space to write a comment on the game page - similar to a Steam review, except there’s no numerical value, and it’s solely a communicative thing. So if you feel like it, a couple of lines mentioning what you liked about BWH (or just reposting your Steam review, haha) would really help out too! The page is quite sparse right now, and I’ve started linking people the Itch page instead of the Steam one, so some more comments would be really nice.
(I got a few more reviews on Steam after the first post in this series, but even more would be appreciated! With Steam it’s more of a numbers game, and it’s purely on a ‘positive review/negative review’ scale, so your Steam review only needs to be a sentence or two and it’d still help a lot on the road to reaching the next bracket, which is 50 positive reviews <3)
