Helmut had been home with Carl, as was often usual when his wife was a valued worker. Lifting a baby spoon full of some kind of baby slop on it he let Carl suck on the spoon for a moment, smiling as the baby had eaten up all the slop "Mmm. Good. You are eating so well today." Helmut cheered lightly, encouraging his son. Once the spoon was mostly emptied and the mess around his infant's mouth wiped up he moved to give another scoop of food. Carl had been reaching out for more, already having eaten a great deal "Only a few more bites. You'll become sick if you overeat." He commented, knowing the baby wouldn't understand entirely what he meant, or really at all. But had decided none the less to make it a habit to speak to Carl like this, anyway, even as an infant. As baby babble was much more of a hindrance for forming minds. Reaching out the next tiny spoonful he let Carl suck on the spoon a moment, scooped some of the food that got on Carl's face back onto the spoon and let the baby continue.
Watching his son, absolutely smitten by the sloppy eating and baby babbling and such other baby things, Helmut grinned happily at his boy "Very good Carl. But that's it for now." Helmut said bringing the spoon down to rest on a napkin on the table next to the baby food. He rose, bringing a cleaning wipe over to wash up Carl's face before lifting the infant out from his baby seat "Now then. Burping, and perhaps a day out on the town, hm? You need some sun." He joked tapping the index finger on his right hand softly against Carl's nose, getting a cute little giggle and chubby little baby fingers wrapping around his own finger. Walking away he let Carl suck at the tip of his finger a moment before shifting Carl into his right arm to toss away the baby wipe into the trash "Mama won't be home till late." Though Heike had always called, and would make sure to speak to their son over the phone, before Carl was laid down for the night. As he was cleaning up the mess of lunch, Carl laid against his chest, chewing on his fingers and drooling as he looked about the room curiously.
Ignoring the slobber and sealing the jar he moved the spoon to the dishwasher then the baby food jar to the fridge "So where should we go? The park? Oh. I do enjoy the park." Carl stared at him, ocean blue eyes scanning Helmut’s face before an absolutely adorable smile spread over Carl's face, a slobbery hand reaching out to grab at Helmut's cheek followed by some more baby babbling "You think so to? I knew you were my son." Helmut murmured playfully. Then glanced around, wondering where on earth James had gone off to "Just have to find Uncle first. He seems to have gotten lost." Moving Carl into the play room, he set Carl down in the baby cage for the time being "I'll go look for him...and change my shirt. You stay." He rubbed a hand to the top of Carl's head before placing a kiss against the patch of soft blond hair, inhaling the smell the lingered from the baby shampoo before pulling away. Though as he turned he stopped momentarily, seeing James standing at the doorway "Oh- Uh...Whe-"
Though he didn't have much time to say anything before the other quickly charged at him, a knife soon digging into his chest. The others super human speed and strength had, in the process, sent him stumbling back into the wall on one side of the baby cage. Reaching his right hand up to grab at the bionic arm that was pinning him he frowned "Wha-what are you doing, Ja- 98!?" It was at this moment, that he had felt the blade dig deep into his chest, blood drizzled onto the floor, staining the wood beneath them. Gasping for breath, Helmut felt his core run cold. When James yanked the knife out from him, he stared at it for a moment, watching his blood drip from the blade before looking toward James, looking absolutely betrayed. His left hand moved to cover the wound, shaking, and poorly managing to keep any blood from flowing down his chest. Dropping to the floor he coughed, blood splattering out from his mouth. Staring down toward his wound, his vision wavered, becoming confused. Lifting his left hand away from the wound, it trembled "Why..."
Dropping over onto the floor, he gasped out, breaths straining. His eyes moved back to James, following the others form as James had stepped back and began to cry. Then moving to whoever had come in and knocked James out, Helmut continued to watch for a long time. Seeing as one of the members of Hydra leaned in to look at Carl in the baby cage, who had just quietly been watching what was going on, clearly not understanding. Though as the agent was order to leave they turned from Carl and moved away, hearing whoever was in charge comment on Carl being 'too young' for their plans. Then the room began to fade into darkness. Soon enough, silence at followed. Or what he thought was silence, until he heard Carl talking to him "It's okay...Carl...It's ...ok-kay." He muttered hearing Carl starting to sniffle beside him and continued trying to get his attention. The world completely faded away then, before the sound of his wife's voice filled his ears. Waking him up once more, he didn't know how much time had gone by, but he could tell she was asking him to hang on.
