A Prayer for Those Left Behind; A Prayer for Those With No One to Pray For Them Pt. 1
While we grieve for the people of the Ukraine, I also grieve for my Swana kin who are feeling pangs of anger. Who realize how much the media has dedicated to helping Ukraine while ignoring that over 3,000 Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli colonialism and imperalism in the past 20 years. While ignoring that Yemen has been under a severe humanitarian crisis for the past year bc of the US backing of Saudi bombing them unrelentingly. While turning a cold shoulder to the Afghan refugees fleeing from instability caused by the US. While ignoring the generations of damage caused to Iraq for imperialist lies. While ignoring the Islamophobia and racism rampant from France towards the Maghreb.
I pray for all the beautiful SWANA souls lost, the homes destroyed, the families torn apart, the generations of ptsd not being dealt with, those in exile, the graves defaced, the culture being fragmented.
I pray for Palestine, I pray for Iraq, I pray for Syria, I pray for Afghanistan, I pray for Armenia, I pray for Yemen, I pray for Lebanon, I pray for Algeria, I pray for Libya, I pray for Morocco, I pray for Sudan, I pray for Jordan, I pray for Tunisia, I pray for Mauritania. I pray for all of you who feel left in the dust and unseen, unheard. I appreciate you & your existence. I pray one day the world treats our deaths with the same urgency they give to Europe. I pray one day we know peace.
