A1C just came back. I really fucked up last time and wound up 8.4. My fault, maybe I was sick, maybe my insulin fucked up...
Today's was 5.9%.

A1C?
What’s s everyone’s current A1C? And stories about previous ones ? Things you have done differently or changed to help with your control or A1C?
I have a list of wild numbers of mine, just curious to what others are.
Happy Diabetic Challenge ☀️
Not even sure what day of the happy diabetic challenge it is but I'm feeling truly happy this summer. I credit it to this challenge reminding me to look for joy in the little moments. Leaving school in the spring I was feeling very tired, overwhelmed, sad, antisocial, and jealous. My blood sugars were a bit crazy and I was stressed. I had vowed that this summer I would be healthier and watch my estimated A1c creep down on the mysugr app and I would be happy. Instead my A1c crept up with each high I experienced. But something else happened. My blood sugars were fucked up but I wasn't depressed. I did find happiness and I feel healthier even though my A1c is 10 points higher. I've been overwhelmingly joyful. I am here living this amazing life. I'm trying my hardest. I'm doing all that I can to manage my diabetes without loosing my freedom or my sanity. I'm taking every moment for what it is, trying to appreciate it and then letting it go. I'm finding freedom and joy in little moments. In sunset swims, my daily yoga practice, my coworkers at work, spending time with my friends, driving to yoga with the windows down and music playing at 7am, spending the summer with my summer soul sister, sleeping on the floor of my brothers room, helping at the farmers market, drinking iced coffee and homemade almond milk, spending all my money at an organic cafe, watching the sunrise, making new friends. Following my heart. Im trying to live with the fear diabetes brings to my life but not let it determine my actions, just notice that the fear is there but not hold on to it and let it become my story. Diabetes is not my story. It's just a part of it but there's so much more. I won't let it consume me, I won't be scared of certain foods because of what it might do to my blood sugar. I won't be scared of spending an hour in the ocean and not being able to look at my dexcom. I'm trying to live untethered from blood sugar numbers on a log and what became an almost unhealthy obsession with the graph on my dexcom. The other day when my blood sugar was 400, even that moment when I was feeling really upset and really sick was also a beautiful moment because in that moment my dad reminded me of how proud he is of me and how incredibly brave I've been over the past year and a half. I found freedom in that moment because a bad feeling was also a beautiful one, filled with love. My day should not be measured or defined by the numbers on a graph. Really those numbers are just data. They do not define who I am as a person. An A1c doesn't determine your happiness. You have to find your happiness and your awe for life in even the most painful situations. These situations are our greatest teachers. It's not my fault I have diabetes, and I'm not a failure because my A1c is now 6.9 when last summer it was 5.9. A lot has happened in a year and expecting my blood sugar to be the same as it was is unrealistic. Everything in life is constantly changing, maybe this fall my A1c will be lower, maybe it won't. It's going to fluctuate my whole life and all I can do is try to find a balance of managing diabetes and living a fulfilling life.
