Getting a job as an underling used to be so much easier, now that people have been using magic to make their own minions, whether through necromancy or summoning.
They were fascinating and impressive uses of magic, but now everyone is using them for everything. They're used for cooking, cleaning, making elaborate plans, giving feedback (for elaborate plans), etc.
Problem is, their will and intelligence is so subpar that the only thing they can do is blindly repeat whatever knowledge the spell that created them contained, lacking the true sapient vision many of these tasks actually need (knowing how a plan could fail, ordering everything in the personalized best way instead of the default, and cooking is just a straight up art form for crying out loud).
Yet sooooo many bosses will just keep contacting wizards for this because "Artificial Henchmen are the future of magic!" and it just makes me want to scream.
