No citizens of any country are somehow inherently bad or evil because of their government. Full stop. That includes Russian citizens, Israeli citizens, Palestinian citizens, Chinese citizens, Iranian citizens, North Korean citizens, etc.
Everyone in this world is just living their lives, each with their own complex needs and desires and interests and emotions. They all have hobbies and friends and families and favorite foods. They all have their own motivations and varying political opinions and views on their governments. They all weigh the risks of standing out or speaking up and they all make their own decisions about that.
They all fear the same in times of danger. They all feel grief and pain and terror the same. They all love and hate and bleed the same.
They are people. They are no different from anyone else, they are not monsters or caricatures or nameless bodies in videos. Complexity and humanity are not exclusive to your country, to people like you.
“how did you get into writing” girl nobody gets into writing. writing shows up one day at your door and gets into you
"how did you get into writing" girl i've been tormented by the visions since i was eight years old
Got dangerously close to Phil lestering it with a tube of glue last night before realizing that I could just look up ways to loosen the cap
The villain, my boss, who I view as a paternal figure: (giving instructions) Do you understand, boy?
Me, a mere henchman: Got it boss!
My boss: (patting my shoulder) Good lad. Go off and do my bidding
Me: (fucks it up immediately)
More people need to read rpf and feel some fucking whimsy in their hearts I think
as much fun as posting is PLEASE be sensible about what you say online
There is quite literally a database being compiled of full names, social media handles, and in some cases employers of people who have made fun of him or celebrated his death. Some of the submissions are screenshots of DMs or close friends stories, I'm sure many are also from private accounts, meaning whoever submitted it was not assumed by the poster to be someone who would literally doxx them in a searchable online database
This is a great time to consider setting any social media profiles attached to your real life, name, and/or face to private and remove anyone you don't trust from your followers. Review your digital footprint and work backwards. How easy would it be, based on things you've said online, for someone to find your real identity and location?
cnn article about the coordinated right wing effort to ruin the lives of people who celebrate kirk's death or refuse to express sympathy or even criticize him. The website is compiling a searchable database doxxing kirk's critics claim they have received 30,000 submissions. some of those will be duplicates, especially when it comes to high profile individuals, and some will be troll submissions, but based on what I have seen (which is purely anecdotal, but that's really all we have at the moment), I think most of them are not. Literal congresspeople are participating in this harassment campaign.
I have seen totally normal people on reddit asking for advice because they posted a meme on Instagram, someone reported them to this website, and now they, their families, and their workplaces are being inundated with harassment and death threats. They are confused and terrified because nothing like this has ever happened to them and they never thought it would. They're not influencers, they're not activists, they're not chronic posters in niche online communities.
The goal of this campaign is not just to drive people to delete their posts or profiles, it's to ruin their lives. As one person put it in the replies of a video game dev who was fired from Sony put it, "She's been fired. When she finds work somewhere else, we will get her fired again, and again, and again."
This isn't to say that we shouldn't speak publicly about our opinions or refuse to participate in this whitewashing of kirk and his work. But we should do so intentionally and remain aware of the risks. Most of these posts people are being targeted over are not thoughtful statements, they're off the cuff reactions or memes. We are in a state of unprecedented online surveillance at a time when many people's real lives are also virtually inseparable from their online lives
great article from margaret killjoy to get you thinking about how to reduce your digital footprint
I need you folks who are going back to school to understand this, sleep deprivation is not something to be proud of. You are being fed capitalist propaganda to make you believe that working yourself to the bone is a good and smart business model from a young age. If all you do is “get 3 hours of sleep” because you’re studying, you’re just gonna burn out quicker, forget the information you’re trying to cram, and cause your brain to cannibalize itself.
Do not compete by making unhealthy habits. This will only fuck you up in the long run.

I’d like to thank Carrie Hope Fletcher for helping me feel the aromantic feelings before I knew what aromanticism was. “A princess needs a friend where the laughter won’t end / that’s worth more than a prince who can charm” still goes hard
Something compelled me to try to label the states on a map of the us and tbh. Americans would cry seeing this
Anyone wanna see 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

How the hell did you get the Undifferentiated Squares right and like nothing else
Hey guys something fucking bad happened
KOSA/the kids online safety act has been reintroduced into legislature after it passed Senate last year and then got snubbed. It is not unlike the bill that just passed in the UK a few weeks ago. If you don't want what happened in the UK to happen here, now would be a good time to vocally oppose it.
Here is a petition that can be signed by Americans. Attached to the petition is an easy tool that allows you to call and leave messages for your representatives. I have already done so. You can also email your representatives by searching for their name, most have message submission boards as well. This thing died once, it can die again.
Please sign/share the petition and contact your representatives.
My dear lgbt+ kids,
Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of issues to care about?
You need to care about climate change. And access to education. And clean water. And the rights of transgender people. And plastic pollution. And people living in war zones. And endangered animals. And the rights of disabled people. And the housing crisis. And food safety regulations. And racism. And… right now you probably feel stressed out because I didn’t even mention that other super important cause yet that you also need to care about, on top of all of these. And on top of all the others I didn’t even mention yet either. And on top of keeping yourself alive and fed and clean and from spiraling.
You’re only one person. You don’t have the money to donate to all these causes or the time to volunteer for all these causes or even the mental capacity to think about all these causes at all times. And admitting that makes you feel like a terribly useless, selfish waste of a human being.
If you relate to that, here are a few comforting thoughts for you:
The very fact that you even stress about this already shows you’re not selfish. A selfish person doesn’t care about making the world a better place for everyone. But you care. You want to help. You have a big heart. So big in fact that you feel selfish for not being able to dedicate yourself to doing everything and helping everyone all at once. That’s, like, the opposite of selfish!
Keep being soft and caring. Those are wonderful traits to have. You don’t need to make your heart smaller to stop stressing. Instead, it may help to remember that
Stressing alone doesn’t equal activism
the people who make the biggest difference are often the ones who dedicate themselves to one cause
good causes are interconnected
What do I mean by that? Well, even if you feel like you have a moral obligation to help as much as you can - you do not have a moral obligation to stress as much as you can. In fact, the latter can get in the way of the former! Think about it: you can spend all your free time scrolling through awareness posts for a hundred different causes and, well, being aware and worried and stressed out about all these things - or you could go out and give a homeless person a bottle of water and some money. That’ll probably take up less time, leave you less exhausted and make you feel better about the world and your place in it. It’ll not fix homelessness or the systemic injustices that fuel it - but it will make this one persons day a little bit easier.
Point is: Stressing about a hundred causes does less than just picking one cause and actually doing something for it.
Now you may think „that’s all fine and well but how do I ever pick just one thing? I can’t give up on caring about everything else“ - and luckily you don’t need to! If you get actively involved in one thing, you’ll always end up learning about and helping with other causes, too.
That’s because it’s all interwoven. Let’s say you find that helping homeless people in your neighborhood is the one thing you can dedicate your big heart to without burning out - you’ll quickly see that your one cause is connected to many other causes: the housing crisis, mental health awareness, poverty, discrimination (such as racism or transphobia), even climate change (to just name a few!).
Or take clean air as another example: Fighting for clean air is an important thing in itself - but it also reduces emissions and slows climate change, and it even improves public health, which in turn helps marginalized communities!
Helping at one corner will shine a light on the connecting causes as well. You’ll help with one important puzzle piece in a big puzzle - without burning yourself out trying to do the whole puzzle by yourself.
With all my love,
Your Tumblr Dad
