Heechul/Henry. Violin Lessons.
It's week three of trying to teach Heechul the violin, and already Henry wants to pitch the older man into the ocean.
"I get it," Heechul interrupts, and Henry knows his hyung doesn't get it at all, "but when do I get to learn where my fingers go? We've already spent so much time getting me to play just the strings by themselves. I'm bored."
It's a hard thing to balance, trying to be a teacher to a beginning student, and trying not to sound condescending to someone who has been trying your patience for hours on end. "Yeah, but if you don't play the open strings correctly, and," the maknae stressed, "one at a time, you'll never get a feel for how the rest of the notes are going to sound like."
"I get it though! Can't we move on?"
Don't sigh, Henry, he told himself. "We could, but you have to prove to me--"
"Well then! That was easy! I don't know why you gave me such a hard time about it." Heechul looked mildly annoyed, as though Henry had been giving him the tedious exercises for the fun of it.
"Ge," Henry started, trying to keep his temper as best he could. "Music is a language. You guys didn't start teaching me Korean by launching right into sentences. You go through the alphabet first. The words. Then the sentences. I know you're really excited to get to your first song, but we gotta do this exercises if you don't want to sound terrible." He took a breath, finally relieved of some of the stress. "I promise I'm not giving you grief because I enjoy making your life hell."
Heechul pouted. "But by the time I learn how to play "Do You Want to Build a Snowman," everyone will have forgotten the movie!"
"For the love of-- go ask Leeteuk to teach you how to play drums!"
