€ for a bad memory that still haunts them

How to put this, how to put this.. what even are words...

I don't grow feelings for people easily, and I don't say anything about it unless I feel it's necessary. Last year there was a guy I fell for, he was everything to me. There wasn't a single thing about him I didn't like, he was funny, handsome, sweet.. simply perfection. He made my heart race whenever I felt his hand on my shoulder, and made me laugh and smile so much it felt like my cheeks were bruised. I felt at peace with everything, nothing could wipe the smile from my face when his name was mentioned. He was the greatest thing to ever happen in my life to this day. In the end, he really messed me over. I'm not going into detail about the bad things, but it's safe to say that I did everything I could to keep him around.

He ended up leaving, and I miss him badly.. since then I can't look at someone romantically without comparing them to him, and I hate myself for it. I think that I'm slowly getting over him though, but there isn't a day that goes by where he hasn't been in my mind.. he's haunting me, I suppose. I know that I was supposed to write about a bad memory, and I wouldn't call him a bad memory. When things fell apart, from then onwards were bad memories.
