I just logged into the HER boards for the first time in like three years

and it’s deeeaaaad y’all it makes me so sad I remember some really good times on there but it’s completely dead now

Oh I'm so glad that happened!! Thank you for explaining. I hate to ask but how severe was the backlash? Did ppl literally make threads about it? Those Christian thirteen year olds are honestly 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I honestly don’t know because I don’t have an account on the boards anymore so I just saw stuff that was cross posted to tumblr. I don’t think it was as severe as it could’ve been (those boards are heavily monitered so anything violent or something wouldn’t’ve been allowed) but people were truly dumb about it, there was a lot of  “well sure you can be gay but throwing it my face is UNCALLED FOR” going on

I've sunken to reporting homophobic posts for arbitrary rule violations like “chatting” because homophobia is cool but “chatting” is despicable

I know it's immature but these people are really awful... why is HeR allowing this still... I sent them an email asking about it last month and they said “this way it's fair for everyone”(???)

How ironic of them to give homophobes a platform to practice their hate speech on in the name of “equality” and “fairness”.

Also this limitation is so annoying...

i dont want to start Drama but whoever keeps posting on the boards joking about Nancy’s “true gender” and the lack of racial diversity in the games needs to stop, it’s in really poor taste

there are trans ND fans and ND fans of color and it’s belittling to make jokes about that. i know you’re just trying to poke fun at the mods but it’s kind of at the expense of marginalized people and that’s not helpful

I kind of doubt catsandbooks stopped being a mod because of people talking smack on tumblr, but I do admire y'all for considering that possibility and wanting to make amends for it. I keep saying stuff like this but I've seen so many horrible internet communities who are just full of spiteful, self-obsessed, unapologetic people who are at each other's throats all the time and it warms the cockles of my heart to see the exact opposite on here

honestly the mods have been pissing me off, they’re so unreasonable and lowkey homophobic and like, i get that they’re people but i literally have no idea how to use the fuckin HeR boards without pissing them off. every thread i make gets moved or some grouchy-ass mod makes a mean comment about it because apparently they have no sense of humor. what’s the point in developing an antagonistic relationship with your forum users? do you WANT to be a study hall teacher? like

if the issue is keeping things ~kid friendly~ then why not make a separate forum for people who are over 18? i feel like there is no chance of any kind of meaningful or interesting discussion. you’re barely allowed to DISAGREE with anyone about anything. it’s like being at a party with a bunch of people you don’t know, and nobody laughs at your jokes. i.e. every house party i ever went to in college. i know some of you haven’t been to college but just take my word for it ok

i want to post on the ‘forum suggestions’ threat (the one that’s private between you and the mods) and be like ‘how about a policy against homophobia’ but they’d probably ban me for life
