Days passed, and Link did not appear in the Domain as far as Sidon was aware. He received no message from the others that anyone had managed to speak to him. Sidon attended to his realm and his people, and dreamed, and worried. A blood moon came and went with no word.
And then one night his avatar ran with Link up a long, grassy slope. The stars wheeled overhead, and there were mountains in the distance. Sidon recognized the landscape; usually mounted bokoblins haunted the area, making a nuisance of themselves until they were easily dispatched. Link must have come by here recently, though, because none accosted them on this night.
Or maybe they had cleared out because something worse had taken up residence.
The only warning Link had was an unearthly screech before the sky boiled into redness. The gloom spawn had hold of him by the ankle in seconds, dragged him back toward the nest of writhing hands with an unshakable grip. Sidon didn't even have time to wish he could cry out.
