Prompt 16: Accident
Part 1 \\ Part 2
|| @desi-lgbt-fest
“Miri! The damn neighbor’s cat sliced my clothes again!”
Miri sighed, setting the stove to low and setting her spatula down. Leaving the kitchen, she took a cursory look at the living room and headed towards the balcony. Sliding open the door she saw Aiyesha crouched on the balcony floor, holding a purple salwar kameez in her hand.
“I keep telling you not to dry your clothes on the balcony.”
Aiyesha pouted in a way that always made Miri want to kiss her cheeks. “It’s faster to dry them on the balcony.”
“It was probably an accident,” Miri soothed, “here, I’ll fix it in no time.”
Aiyesha handed over her kameez. “If I didn’t know any better, I would say the damn cat was doing this on purpose.”
Miri got a distinct feeling that the cat indeed did have an agenda. This wasn’t the first time he went for Aiyesha’s clothes. Miri suspected he was just doing it to get Aiyesha’s attention. No matter how much she grumbled about their neighbor’s eccentric cat, Miri knew Aiyesha always snuck out extra bits of food to feed him after every meal, making sure that Miri was never in the vicinity.
“He only likes you,” Aiyesha continued, gathering up the rest of the clothes that were laid out on the balcony. “I have no idea what I did to antagonize him like that.” She paused, looking back at Miri with squinted eyes. “You didn’t do anything to make him not like me, did you?”
Miri felt her lips quirk up, and simply shook her head. “I would never do such a thing.”
Aiyesha paused to consider this, going back to gathering the clothes. “Well, I’ll take your word for it. But mark my words, the next time he does this there will be no mercy.”
“Of course,” Miri nodded in seriousness, “I’ll go stitch this up then.”

“Miri, is that a pride flag you embroidered on the rip?”
Miri hummed in confirmation. “I did the same on mine so we match.”
Aiyesha stared at Miri with eyes wide with admiration. “I love you so much.”
“I love you, too.”
“ ... ”
Pico looked like he just endured trauma or sum shit. He was pretty quiet, keeping his gaze down on the ground the entire time.
“ hi. ”
And he didn't say old man. Oh. oh no.
Although John didn't look up from what he was currently doing- He figured out who it was that's approached him. (Do not ask how.) Thus, as he scrubbed the mess of graffiti and bloodstains off of the hull of his tank, he already begun coming up with some witty quip in the back of his mind, and turned his head to say one, barely restraining a smile, but... Seeing Pico- Even HEARING him like that... Just kills the Captain's vibe. Not trying to hide his concern, John cuts to the chase and heaves a sigh.
"... Hey."
There probably was atleast a few dozen different ways he could've added some sort of “What happened” question after that, but... Knowing Pico, he would just get defensive and then become nearly impossible to convince into opening up. So, Tank tries the nice and slow kind of approach, letting the kid go at his pace.
