Indiana Lt. Governor Micah Beckwich (R) deleted a post confirming what appeared to be a threat from the Trump administration in a push to force the state to create new districts favoring Republicans.
"President Trump has made it clear to Indiana leaders: if the Indiana Senate fails to pass the map, all federal funding will be stripped from the state," conservative advocacy group Heritage Action noted Thursday on X. "Roads will not be paved. Guard bases will close. Major projects will stop. These are the stakes and every NO vote will be to blame."
Beckwich replied: "The Trump admin was VERY clear about this. They told many lawmakers, cabinet members and the Gov and I that this would happen. The Indiana Senate made it clear to the Trump Admin today that they do not want to be partners with the WH. The WH made it clear to them that they'd oblige."

Peter Montgomery at People For The American Way's RWW:
Heritage Action, the political arm of the MAGA “think tank” behind the Trump administration’s Project 2025 policy agenda, is claiming that America’s city streets have been occupied by Marxist rioters to rally support for legislation that would empower President Donald Trump’s Justice Department to more aggressively wage war against the president’s political opponents.
“End the Marxist Occupation of our Streets,” reads a Heritage Action campaign message, which praises Trump's designation of Antifa as a "domestic terrorist organization." The message includes an illustrated graphic of a television “PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT” reading “MARXIST RIOTERS IN YOUR CITY AVOID PUBLIC AREAS AT ALL COSTS.”
The campaign by Heritage Action urges people to petition Congress to pass the Stop FUNDERS Act being promoted by Sen. Ted Cruz, Rep. Beth Van Duyne, and other MAGA Republicans. FBI Director Kash Patel endorsed the legislation at a congressional hearing last month.
Cruz told Fox News this month that his legislation would allow the Justice Department to “prosecute the money” that is funding “No Kings” protests and suggested without offering any evidence that the more than 200 organizations that have supported the overwhelmingly peaceful “No Kings” protests are part of a “criminal enterprise.”

Heritage Action is also urging the House to “establish — and dedicate adequate time, authority, staff, and resources to — a select committee to investigate the rise of left-wing terrorism.” In reality, there is evidence that “most domestic terrorists in the U.S. are politically on the right, and right-wing attacks account for the vast majority of fatalities from domestic terrorism.”
Heritage Action, the political activism arm of The Heritage Foundation, lobbies for the passage of the dangerous "Stop FUNDERS Act" to target progressive and anti-Trump groups.
In a powerful reproach to President Donald Trump, the Indiana Senate voted, by a wide margin, against a mid-decade redistricting that would have gerrymandered the state’s congressional maps.
At least 11 GOP lawmakers had received death threats ahead of the vote — a sign of the dangerous extremism that Trump’s backers brought to the battle.
The vote came down to the wire. During Thursday’s debate, Sen. Greg Goode (R) indicated he would vote no by saying he was listening to his constituents, becoming the 15th Republican opposed to the bill. But none of the other remaining swing votes indicated how they’d vote before the final tally.
But in the end, the vote wasn’t even close: 31-19, with 21 Republicans joining all 10 Democrats in opposition. In fact, more GOP Hoosiers voted against the measure than for it.
The proposed map would have targeted Indiana’s two Democratic U.S. representatives to hand all 9 seats to the GOP. Around 45% of Indiana’s party-affiliated voters are Democrats.
The upper chamber debated the bill for three hours ahead of the vote, with opponents appealing to the better angels of Hoosiers’ nature and invoking the Founding Fathers while proponents embraced Machivelli.

In recent weeks, right-wing political action committees promised to spend millions to punish no-voting Republicans, and on Thursday, the Heritage Foundation’s political advocacy arm promised federal retribution if the state didn’t redistrict.
“President Trump has made it clear to Indiana leaders: if the Indiana Senate fails to pass the map, all federal funding will be stripped from the state,” Heritage Action wrote on X. “Roads will not be paved. Guard bases will close. Major projects will stop. These are the stakes and every NO vote will be to blame.”

While states usually only update their congressional maps once a decade following the census, Trump ignited a mid-decade redistricting war as his polling figures cratered over the summer. GOP lawmakers in Texas, Missouri and North Carolina quickly answered the call. But Indiana Republicans resisted, leaving the outcome of this redistricting fight uncertain until today’s vote.
The Indiana State Senate rebuked Donald Trump’s election-rigging scheme to steal two extra Congressional seats designed to help the GOP by rejecting the new rigged maps 30-19, as 21 Senate Republicans teamed up with the 10 Democrats to smother the map dead.

Madeline Peltz and John Knefel at MMFA:
Media Matters found significant ties between authors, contributors, and partner organizations involved in Project 2025 — an extreme right-wing initiative organized by The Heritage Foundation to provide policy and personnel to the next Republican presidential administration — and the ongoing right-wing efforts to disenfranchise voters and sow confusion about the 2024 election.
The Heritage Foundation itself is at the center of many of these efforts; The New Yorker’s Jane Mayer identified the conservative think tank as one of the election denial movement’s “leaders” following the 2020 election. Heritage has extensive connections to election denial groups through both direct collaboration on voter suppression policies and the Project 2025 advisory board, which includes more than 110 conservative groups.
According to the Brennan Center for Justice, “Project 2025 threatens to reverse progress made over the last four years by stripping crucial federal resources from election officials and weaponizing the Department of Justice against officials who make decisions the administration disagrees with.” The Project 2025 policy book, Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise, recommends dismantling the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, which plays a key role in protecting American elections. Mandate’s chapter on the Federal Election Commission was written by Hans von Spakovsky, a Heritage legal fellow with a decades-long career spreading voter fraud myths.
The Heritage Foundation’s political arm, Heritage Action, is a member of the Only Citizens Vote Coalition — a collection of election denial activists and right-wing groups that voting rights experts say are spreading misinformation about noncitizen voting. Only Citizens Vote was organized by prominent election denier Cleta Mitchell, a Project 2025 contributor, and many of the Heritage plan’s advisory board members are also Only Citizen Vote Coalition partners.
In collaboration with The Heritage Foundation and Project 2025, the groups and individuals listed here are at the forefront of efforts to sow chaos and confusion in the 2024 election.
Project 2025 partner groups are seeking a redux of their unsuccessful 2020 election-stealing efforts to sow chaos about a potential Kamala Harris win with their bogus crusade against the essentially nonexistent bogeyman of noncitizen voting.

You know that Independence Day was supposed to be July 2nd, right?? Sadly, they ran into an editing problem. Why the 2nd?? Yes, I know some of our Iranians friends have been doing some wild stuff since last week, but I think it is simpler than that. Sirius would appear to be the reason for the date choice.
This again shows that Evangelical white nationalists know nothing about our country. …
Mother Jones obtained leaked video in which an executive of a conservative group appears to brag about helping write voter restriction bills to give them a grassroots "vibe."
