Dear diary- today I was taken to a terrifying place called the #heritagesquare museum. The houses were seriously amazing to run around buuuut I'm 110% certain there were monsters in there so I gave some pretty good high pitched, deafening screams during the nice docent man talking. Showed everyone I'm no fool. I think my parents were embarrassed and actually *liked* being in there, not sure. Couldn't figure out if their bulging eyes were for me or the ghosts trying to seep up through the dead silent, dark, chilly basements. My mom tried to hold me but I kicked her in the boobs to show her who's boss. They eventually took turns sitting outside with me so I could scream in peace, very considerate. Got some good grass stains in my new white pants too. Real good. We're on our way to dinner now, hopefully I'll get some good spills in before the night's over! An outstanding example of Queen Anne and Eastlake styles. The exterior colors of Hale House were reproduced from chips of the original colors found on the house during restoration. The house was sold many times and was moved from 4501 to 4425 North Pasadena Avenue (now Figueroa Street) before being purchased by James G. “Welcome to Baltimore,” said the gatekeeper, in long grey hair and top hat. After this week’s headlines, it was a surprising greeting. But as #Baltimore was the final home and #restingplace of one my favorite writers, it needn’t be. In we went to east #LA’s #HeritageSquare, where, among the #Victorian-era homes, church and drugstore, beautifully appointed in period furnishings, we participated in the interactive production of #TheAssasinationofEdgarAllenPoe by the @downtownrep. Each of us in the sold-out crowd were handed a hooded velour cape to wear, lending us audience members a cloak of anonymity as we chose whichever actor to follow. It was a hoot. Yes, Andy + I did #SleepNoMore in #NYC 6 years ago, and #howtosurviveazombieapocalypse @edfringe, among other interactive theater events. This original production had less bells and whistles, in some ways. But was a treat, nonetheless. I've returned to this magical place today because of my experiences in the Perry Mansion back in October. Oddly enough, while I still picked up on the energies inside of the Perry Mansion(can't not do that), it was the Octogon house that nearly knocked me over today. In less than about a minute and a half from walking through the front door, my hands and legs began to tremble, my heart began to race, my breath, short and shaky, and I became so dizzy and disoriented that I had to hold onto furniture or the walls. Wow. And, don't even get me started on that bathroom. NOPE. I was so affected that, not only did I have to get out of the house, but I couldn't continue on the rest of the tour. My son, on the other hand, was inside of the Perry Mansion for maybe 6 minutes, tops, and walked out. He wouldn't go into another house there.
