Here is another photo, that I took on our recent trip to Charleston, South Carolina. I loved this row of historic houses in downtown, with the pretty frontyards and window boxes and all the beautiful tall trees. I often wondered why I felt such a strong sense of well-being in Charleston and I believe it is because there is so much beauty in terms of the mostly historic architecture and the tremendous amount of greenery. I simply loved being there and strolling around the downtown streets for hours. Many of you, who commented on my previous posts about Charleston, seemed to share my feelings for this charming city. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we all loved to be where we actually live? Taking Charleston as an example, would it make a difference to our quality of live, when we all would take as good care as we can of the trees in our neighborhoods and gardens, plant up beautiful front- and backyards or even just a window box or a container? And also make our houses as pretty as we can, may they be historic or not, maybe starting small by choosing a nice color for the front door? I believe it would make a big difference. What do you do think? Does this Tudor cottage not look as if it is right out of a fairytale? Or at least standing in an ancient small English village? But no, my husband and I came across this beauty on our walk through Tarrytown last weekend, an older and very prestigious neighborhood right here in Austin! Besides the beautiful Tudor architecture the old oak trees that it is surrounded by give it such a magical appearance. I also love the green trim together with the light stone, a very pleasing color combination that reminds me of the cottages that we have seen in the Cotswolds in England. I can’t help it, I love to look at old charming houses with beautiful architecture. It gives me so much pleasure. I am already looking forward to my next stroll through this lovely neighborhood! I couldn’t get enough of wandering the streets of downtown Charleston. Lovely historic architecture, lush greenery, charming cobblestone pavement, beautiful shudders and doors and last but not least amazingly creatively planted window box everywhere. Charleston has it all! But what maybe made me really fall in love with this city is the overall relaxed and chilled atmosphere. You can really feel at home in Charleston, instantly.
