The school day was officially over. Students darted down the hallways, scurrying to their common rooms or lounging aimlessly around the castle, soaking in whatever winter sun they could get through the windows. There was talk of Valentine’s Day, too. Catch her before some other fella does. Do you think he’s got his eyes set on me? Graves groused. All he could think about was his DADA duel with Picquery tomorrow, and nothing--not chocolates or flowers or last-minute poetic cards--would ever cross his mind. 

He spotted Picquery emerge from the doors of the Transfiguration room in due time. Sudden as a hawk, he swooped by her side. She shouldn’t be surprised. 

"Get some rest tonight, Phina,” he said, voice low. “You’ll be needing it.”

Pressed lips in an attempt at not blurting out something he’ll probably regret he sat down in the first open chair that was in front of the desk. He was in the office of the president of MACUSA which should bring fear to him as their stick laws over carrying creatures in their country would mean that his suitcase was in danger. Shifting in the seat he was in he was growing increasingly uncomfortable as he wanted to know what will happen to his suitcase, to the creatures he promised to keep safe. Some were permanently in his care as setting them out into the wildlife would be dangerous for them, others he was planning to return to the wild as they fully heal. Giving in to his impatience he asked,  ❝I don’t mean to be rude but might I ask why I’m here?❞

why was Picquery not pleased with Newt's creatures running around loose? bc the last time a Scamander was in America, she had to deal spending three weeks trying to untangle herself, MACUSA, and numerous other citizens of New York from Theseus' balls of yarn and wool gone wild that nearly strangled everyone needless to say, she was not amused with this "international incident"...she's still finding random pieces of yarn and wool in the weirdest places even now @hermacusa, @picqucry - "oops sorry seraphina pls don't kill me, I'm cute"
