Excited to share these photos- I took the two on the right scuba diving here in Washington and the left of course are my crochet versions. Although the colors vary, all the above specimens belong to species Hermaea olivae! I sell the crochet nudibranch plushes on my etsy :)
After extensive research/contacting experts, I found out the species of this beautiful nudibranch I found! It’s another Hermeae Olivae, surprisingly. Strange because I saw several on that dive and all of the others were greenish brown. I know they change colors depending on the algae they eat, but I was surprised that this single nudibranch had been eating something completely different than others in the same area on the same day.
Woohoo! I finally got around to crocheting a green Hermaea olivae nudibranch :) I really like how it turned out. These cute guys are both for sale here !
Just another wild day being a crochet nudibranch
Saw some very incredible nudibranchs today- my first Sacoglossan species! They are "sap suckers" who ingest the cellular contents from algae :) These particular nudies were tiny- smallest was about 4 mm and largest was about 8mm. They belong to species Hermaea olivae.
I hail you #Hermes. Giver all all good things. Who’s presence is a joy. Who’s grace is everlasting. Blessed is the one who is truly able to call you friend. #hermaea #hailhermes #witchesofinstagram #sigilmagic (at Austin, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFyNS9-jqRL/?igshid=ddk092moblbf
