Arzberg Form 1382 Tea Set, Red Edge by Hermann Gretsch, 1930s
The first crockery designed according to the principles of the New Objectivity, the 1382 tea service corresponded to the basic ideas of modernity. It was designed by the architect Hermann Gretsch, who worked as an artistic consultant for Arzberg from 1931. His approach was to develop tableware that was free of any decor - a novelty at the time. This uncompromising attitude was also reflected in the name 1382: the production number at Arzberg.
