Prayer to Hermes for students and writers,
Hermes, Diaktoros, messenger to many, guide to those who seek, dearest of all; Skilled craftsman and rhetorician, inventor of lyre and the mightiness of language for those who use it in your name and honor. Now as i sit on my desk and commence my studies or writing; my heart beats while each pulse recites your name, my eyes see and my consciousness think with the mightiness you bestow, my hands write like a pilgrim exploring sacred lands—depths of my consciousness, bringing fruition to my studies. All in your honor and your name, Dotor eaon, Silver-tongued darling of the Gods. I ask you for the brightness of your wisdom and your skill in writing and language enlighten my path of education and my career i seek as a writer. I thank you for all the blessings you gave me. Please, let me stand by your side and be my eternal guide and mentor, most beloved of all teachers. Khaire.
praise be to lord hermes, every time i’m anxious about a social situation i know i can lean on thoughts of him and feel a sense a comfort to get me through it.
as someone always struggling with communication and understanding, i feel better knowing he’s on my side.
Pagan Serenity Prayer
I never practiced Catholicism, but I became very intrigued by the rituals & routines within the practice, especially as an autistic person who finds comfort in routine.
I’ve been struggling with my control issues recently & needed a reminder to let things go & leave it to the gods, but it’s hard! So, I decided to create my own version of a ‘serenity prayer.’
May the sun rise in my heart,
May the wind guide me down my fated path,
And may love set me free from doubt.
I took inspiration from my main three deities—Aphrodite, Hermes, Apollo—and they’re represented within each line! That being said, you do not have to worship these three deities to use this prayer! If you can find ways to associate it with your own practice, feel free to use it as you’d like! :)
Hermes Eriones¹, bringer of luck and immortal messenger of the Gods, i ask for your blessings this day. Watchful one, bearer of the Golden Wand, well-versed and well-traveled, Dotor Eaon², may your strength and wisdom shine down on me. Graceful Son of Maia, Hermeneutes³, I praise you.
¹: “luck-bringing, ready-helper.”
²: “giver of good things.”
³: “interpreter, translator.”
mini prayer i wrote to Hermes for his blessings before a job interview i had a few weeks ago!!
A Prayer to Hermes Diaktoros,
The Divine Guide
(due to the current state of the world)
Veneration of Khthonic Hermes
Adored Lord Hermes, ever radiant are you, even in Death's and Necessity's dreadful wake. Two snakes, two hands, two paths. Balanced and intertwined, never one without the other.
Darling son of the rich-tressed shy goddess and the thunderous King of God's, under Nyx's shroud, your hands are soft like the pads of a predator. Companion of the Three-Formed Titaness, down to the depths you lead. Lively psychopomp of the dead, you guide them to Hades' wise Queen, the garlands mistress of death.
Choking the barking dogs and unmaking the restrictive boundaries of the troubled and fearful living. Please steal us away, generous theif! Deep into the night, you coax us into revelry with your madness inducing kin and their satyr followers. You weave your way through the ecstatic crowd, deceptions honeyed with a sly smile. And in the wake of your unbindings, your ever-scheming lover follows, tying down hearts and flesh once more, swaying hips adorned with her passion inspiring girdle. Many shifting rogue, the tricksters you secretly mentor cry out their worship to you. May they consecrate their ears and tongues to you and erect worthy shrines to soft-lidded Peitho upon their lips.
Or perhaps, wisened one, you will lend us your keen insight, soul illuminating lantern in hand. Under the cover of Astraeus, you lend a patient ear and perspicacious counsel, intermittently in the company of the goddess whose eyes shine with the depth and beauty of galaxies known and unknown. For through your endless travels, nothing is hidden from you, dissembling interpreter.
You free War from His confinement, yet hold no shame in relinquishing arms against the beloved Mother of the Twins. Nevertheless, slayer of Argos, your Harpe drips with blood for you are the delightful patron of mercenaries. Though the rod Caduceus heralds diplomacy and Death's gentler twin, your sharp words and cunning wit are what mortals fear and respect.
And whenever I am lost in the dark, I pray you be my guide, ready helper. Be my steady feet and firm resolve, even if Anake's all-encompassing frame shadows my sight. Or perhaps, be the unlawful friend who entices me into delighting in the joys of life.
