Prayers to Athena and Hermes in gratitude
I’m not super good at writing, and I feel like these are too wordy. Figured I’d share in case anyone had some suggestions
I was speaking to my roommate who was mad about a subject she didn’t have a lot of knowledge on, and I did, so I had a conversation with her that helped educate her, and have a different viewpoint by the end of it. I am confident that Lady Athena and Lord Hermes were by my side, and so I composed prayers in gratitude.
Prayer to Lady Athena in gratitude
Hear me, O Lady Athena Anchinoia
You who are the manifestation of the wisdom of Lord Zeus, our Heavenly Father
Bright eyed embodiment of the nous
I have made libations of water and olive oil at your altar, I have been a good student in your name, and for that you have granted me the skill of sound mind so that I may hold the attention of my opposition and bring them to my side, and soothe their spirits by way of rhetoric and knowledge
Through you can I defend my stance
I thank you for being by my side as I spread your wisdom and bear my nous
Please remain by me, and help me sharpen my wit and rhetoric, quick witted Oxyderces,
Admirable goddess
You who are rightfully entitled to libations, offerings, and incense
I honor and praise you with gratitude and reverence
Prayer to Lord Hermes in Gratitude
Lord Hermes, eukoinonesia,
God of the winged sandals, bearer of the caduceus,
Incense and libations of honey and fruit are offered at your altar, for you are a god of sweet tongue and honeyed words,
Through you can I communicate my stance
Through you can I express myself in a way that will move another to understand and learn the way in which I perceive the world
O golden Hermenuetes,
Thank you for all your gifts
Stay by my side always and grant me the power of speech for the sake of a better world
Some people say not to take the myths of the gods seriously, but while I agree that perhaps not all of them actually happened, most of them serve as a good basis/source for understanding and comprehending the "personality" of the gods.
From them, we can take something valuable about Athena: she gives you the things you need to achieve a goal.
Things like scientific, industrial, and artistic inventions are attributed to her. Not "by chance" or accidental inventions, but rather those that involve reflection. She familiarizes people with the means and instruments necessary to carry them out. Therefore, I believe that a prayer to her should not be made as a plea to the goddess for instant wisdom and intelligence, but rather for the means, opportunities and instruments necessary for you to learn.
Low - Effort Worship
I've been pretty down lately due to...various reasons...so! I decided I'm going to post what you can do when you're just down in the dumps or possibly don't have time. I think a good reminder for us all is that, in Hellenic Polytheism, everything centers around reciprocity. We do things for the gods, they do things for us in return! Not everything will be a giant Aphrodisia or Gamelia celebration. Without further do, here's a list of things you can do that I consider low effort worship (I recognize everyone will have different abilities and different ways of worship!): 1. Invite the gods to be around when you're doing something. This could be something as intense as a metalworking workshop and inviting Hephaestus, or just playing Assassin's Creed and inviting Athena (something I've done many times). How to invite? You could go for a full blessing - such as "white-armed Hera, be with me for this duration" - but when I'm in true low effort mode, what I will do is, "hey, wanna watch this with me, Dionysus?" (or whoever I'm inviting!) It's a great way to involve worship in your daily life. 2. Pray. Just take some time and send a prayer to the gods; whatever that looks like for you. Most recently, my prayer was literally just "Lord Zeus, help me". It can be as simple as that! 3. Whatever you're doing, similar to inviting the gods, dedicate it to that deity! Got a picture you're proud of on HappyColor? Say it's for Eirene! High score in a video game? Bam, it's for Hermes! You don't even have to say it before the activity, you can say it just after - like, "hey, this top score is for you". 4. If you really can't do anything - like full on bedrest - just thank the gods. Thank them for what they've given us; what they've done for you. It doesn't even have to be out loud. The gods can hear you, wherever you are and whatever you're doing. Take care of yourselves. Your mental health and physical health are important. Praise to Apollo, god of medicine, and praise to all the Theoi.
Veneration of Khthonic Hermes
Adored Lord Hermes, ever radiant are you, even in Death's and Necessity's dreadful wake. Two snakes, two hands, two paths. Balanced and intertwined, never one without the other.
Darling son of the rich-tressed shy goddess and the thunderous King of God's, under Nyx's shroud, your hands are soft like the pads of a predator. Companion of the Three-Formed Titaness, down to the depths you lead. Lively psychopomp of the dead, you guide them to Hades' wise Queen, the garlands mistress of death.
Choking the barking dogs and unmaking the restrictive boundaries of the troubled and fearful living. Please steal us away, generous theif! Deep into the night, you coax us into revelry with your madness inducing kin and their satyr followers. You weave your way through the ecstatic crowd, deceptions honeyed with a sly smile. And in the wake of your unbindings, your ever-scheming lover follows, tying down hearts and flesh once more, swaying hips adorned with her passion inspiring girdle. Many shifting rogue, the tricksters you secretly mentor cry out their worship to you. May they consecrate their ears and tongues to you and erect worthy shrines to soft-lidded Peitho upon their lips.
Or perhaps, wisened one, you will lend us your keen insight, soul illuminating lantern in hand. Under the cover of Astraeus, you lend a patient ear and perspicacious counsel, intermittently in the company of the goddess whose eyes shine with the depth and beauty of galaxies known and unknown. For through your endless travels, nothing is hidden from you, dissembling interpreter.
You free War from His confinement, yet hold no shame in relinquishing arms against the beloved Mother of the Twins. Nevertheless, slayer of Argos, your Harpe drips with blood for you are the delightful patron of mercenaries. Though the rod Caduceus heralds diplomacy and Death's gentler twin, your sharp words and cunning wit are what mortals fear and respect.
And whenever I am lost in the dark, I pray you be my guide, ready helper. Be my steady feet and firm resolve, even if Anake's all-encompassing frame shadows my sight. Or perhaps, be the unlawful friend who entices me into delighting in the joys of life.

This question is for anyone who wants to answer it!
How do you cope during times of feeling spiritually disconnected from the gods you worship? If you don't have anything specific that you do, what do you think would help you during those times?
Thank you, Lady Nyx, for yet again shrouding those labelled as monsters and for the calm of your embrace.
Thank you, Lord Hermes, for travelling with us too and fro the liminal destination and for gaurding us within our temporary homes. Thank you for reigniting the sparks in our souls.
Thank you for reigniting the lost embers in our hearts. Thank you, Lady Aphrodite, for not only showing us that there is progress in gentleness, not in self punishment, but also how to do it. Thank you for using your gentle hands to grounding us into both our bodies and our emotions while also carrying us safe and aloft dangerous waters. Sweet Lady, thank you for lifting our hearts and for guiding our bodies as we moved through despair and into the golden light of hope.
Thank you, Lady Gaia, for grounding us and holding us dear as we stumble. Thank you for nourishing us and giving us the fuel we needed to grow bigger and stronger. Thank you, Lord Uranus, for allowing us to expand and for reaching out to us as we reach for you.
And of course, thank you to all the advochists who came before us, the ones who worked to create what freedom and safety we have now. Thank you to the sociologists and psychologists, past and present, who created the theory that structure the path to help us thrive. And thank you to the workers, seen and unseen, for not only helping sustain the location we used but also for transporting the food and water to us.
Happy winter solstice! The light begins to return tomorrow!!
