Here's a small idea/headcanon Ah had in mind for Lin Chung in the PLUS reboot (or also known as season 3)~ 🖤🤍❤️
Inspired by Mystique Sonia's official yet archived comic where it was stated she wishes to be like the other heroines such as Alpha Girl, Lady Green, n' Rosefinch, Ah imagined for Lin Chung's own heroes he admires to be the 'mystery characters' a.k.a the unused characters which are Assassin/Minghao, White Heroine/Bai Xue, Shitou/Stone Commander, n' Shaizi/Dice, as he also wants to be even more skilled than he already is enough now as them four =^w^= 🖤🩶🖋️
And to mention, I may draw a drawing of Lin Chung fantasizing about his heroes similar to how Sonia did in the archive, pilot comic, may do that tommorow =^///^=
Note: this is the comic page am talking about if some don't know
Note 2: here are also the 'mystery characters' am talking about just incase some don't know which am talkin' about ^//^;
The opossum Queen have in total 20 a 30 babys in Hero 208
The red panda artist is the reason(a least in this au) what Lin chung like the art the red panda artist when he was a bit more Young the trained Lin chung(when was a kid) of art
• Lin Chung would probably be the one to initiate a relationship, with a little help from the rest of first squad.
• Kowloon dates like it's a challenge. Lin Chung takes him on a romantic walk? Kowloon will find a better place to walk! Lin got him a gift? Kowloon will get him more!
• Kowloon will get over it eventually, he'll settle into a relationship naturally but it's an uphill battle for the first couple of weeks.
• The rest of first and second squad are not subtle about them shipping them.
• Sonia and Jumpy- and sometimes Alpha Girl and Archer Lee- have helped Kowloon and Lin Chung go on a date on more than one occasion.
• Since they're both members of big green, and both have missions that will likely interrupt a regular date, they sometimes call going out to help an animal castle a date.
I struggle with this phenomenon in which I feel like I can only convey my ideas through drawings. While I haven’t been drawing as much, I’m going to try and develop a habit of sharing my ideas/headcanons/etc in writing and other formats instead!
During this break, I decided to finally chart out my headcanons of the interpersonal dynamics within First Squad! These ideas may or may not change slightly with different ships, AUs, etc (Sonray was my first hero 108 ship and it still holds a place in my heart lol /silly), but this is what I typically have in mind when I am writing for the gang :]c I also went into extra detail in captions where I explain the reasoning behind my charting below, because it wouldn’t be fun if I didn’t! With all that said:
Read about my First Squad headcanons below! 🧵
Since I touch on age a little bit in these charts, I’ll also share my age headcanons for additional context. The age of everyone changes as the series continues as I like to think the course of the series takes much longer than it appears in the show!
- Mr. No Hands is the oldest of First Squad, aged between his early to mid 40s.
- Jumpy is the second oldest*, aged around 30 years old.
- Lin Chung and Sonia are around the same age in their mid 20s. Lin is just slightly older.
- Ray is around 22-23 years old.
That's all :]c thanks for reading if you did! No pressure if you don't like or agree with everything I wrote, I love everyone's different perspectives! 💛
*Note: Jumpy’s age is in human years, and is based upon the idea that animals in universe age similarly to humans.
I've been meaning to get this out of my drafts for A WHILE. I figured I should before I yap even more about Mighty Ray lore/headcanons...
This is the piece that I used for my pfp months ago!! :}c I needed an excuse to draw Ray looking powerful in the comic fit I drew for him hehehe i love him so much
I have an explanation for this piece below the line if anyone is interested, as well as Ray character discussion, analysis, etc. It involves some of the ideas Nick and I have for his backstory too. There will be a TL;DR at the end for anyone that doesn't want to read it all. Small warning that it might be roughly written as most of this was typed awhile ago!
1. What's happening?
This piece is meant to depict the moment Ray catches one of the Zebra Brothers. Mighty Ray is flying solo and completely enraged, intent on getting revenge for what the zebras' did to his eyes, as well as... something else. Sparky Black is left without his lantern or any weapon to defend himself. His fate is entirely left up to Ray.
What happens next is up to you.
Although the artwork was originally just a sketch, the angle is meant to not only display the sheer power that is Ray himself (between the electric AND fire power he has), but also place him in a position that questions his heroic integrity. We know him as a hero, but the composition/pose is meant to frame him like a villain. The goal here is to raise the question of whether what is happening here is actually justified or not.
Also, as mentioned earlier, Ray's outfit is inspired by the comic fit I designed here. Sparky Black is also shown with a scar over his eye, which is supposed to allude to how he gave up an eye to make his lantern for the comic:
2. Why would Ray want to hurt the Zebra Bros?
So the answer to this question is obvious BUT I have more to add onto this, so listen for a moment 👀
Ray losing his eyes is treated like an inconvenience in the series, but I don't think we acknowledge just how traumatizing losing his eyes the way he did would have been. For one, the process of having your eyeballs turned to stone was probably extremely painful for Ray and scary! Not to mention they fell out afterwards! Ray handles it like a champ in the show, but this is one (of several) things that happen in Hero 108 that are realistically horrifying when you give it two seconds of thought. His comic version has a more fearful/pained reaction than his show counterpart does:
(In the English translation of the comic, the old man that had his eyes turned to stone also yells about how it burns, and Ray is repeatedly crying out "ows" with how much it hurt. Just look at how scared he looks here!)
I also feel the need to mention too that going blind so suddenly would have been a terrifying experience. Ray is left running aimlessly until he happens to stumble into Apetrully in the comic! Although the show's canon is different than the comic, I must remind you all that The Eyes of Mighty Ray: Part 1 and Part 2 makes a big point to highlight that present-day Ray can navigate to some extent without his eyes. That means that he would have had to live without sight for enough time to have been able to get used to it. This means that this issue couldn't have been resolved immediately like the show makes it out to have been. Ray had to have been blinded for a while. Let's call this situation what it is: the Zebra Brothers literally DISABLED Mighty Ray, in a traumatizing manner, and he was blinded as a result for a sizeable amount of time. And, if it weren't for Apetrully, Ray would have stayed like that forever. That gives Ray MORE than enough grounds to have some anger towards the zebras.
(While I'm talking about this, I'll also insert my little headcanon that Ray was even LESS enthusiastic than the rest of First Squad about the Zebra Brother's joining Big Green in Ostrich Castle not only because of his history with the bros, but also because Apetrully should KNOW what happened to Ray. Yet he let the two join anyways. Apetrully when I get you Apetrully....... /silly)
3. (Some) Mighty Ray's backstory headcanons, and how they relate to the art:
The heroes of Big Green come from a vast array of different backgrounds. While a few heroes fight in this war simply for the promise of peace, many others joined the rebellion because they've experienced the consequences of Highroller's ideologies firsthand.
This is especially true for Mighty Ray: the proud tank of First Squad.
Before Highroller would overthrow the Emperor, his ideology spread throughout Hidden Kingdom's animal population like wildfire. Settlements large but especially small became vulnerable to animal hostility as time went on. Although Highroller lacked the organized fleet he would eventually gain, animal packs and armies would often act on their own volition in fear and anger that the humans would betray/attack them first. It was the survival of the fittest for the human villages that lacked the resources to fight back. The only place safe enough for humans would be East Citadel, but this place was mostly reserved for those that had the privilege of being born there.
Ray's village--a small, quaint town settled just outside of East Citadel--fell victim to this hostility. The tigers paid a visit to his home during the dead of night. He was only a child at the time.
Most of the villagers didn't survive. That included his parents.
Ray was a survivor though. When lone warriors responded to the tragedy in the aftermath, he was amongst the last alive to be found. He was found by a certain strong warrior in black clad and a ponytail, ironically enough. That warrior hulled him and the other survivors back to East Citadel to take refuge many years ago, and that is where Ray would grow up.
There is a lot of detail I could go into about how Ray grew up there, but I'll save that for another post. The short of it is that Mr. No Hands would come back years later and take Ray under his wing. Mighty Ray would grow up under his guidance and play for his table soccer team up until Highroller's takeover, when he not only lost his eyes, but him AND Mr. No Hands were kicked out of their home.
They would move into Big Green shortly thereafter.
4. What do the Zebras have to do with this?
That's just it: they don't.
Highroller is the biggest cause for Ray's suffering. His ideologies were the ones that got his family killed. The Zebra Brothers attacked (and disabled) Ray under his command. Highroller not only took away Ray's first home but took away his second home too! Between canon and headcanon, Ray would have every reason to want Highroller gone. So why not try to take revenge on him instead?
Oh, right. He DID try doing just that.
It didn't work.
It isn't exactly easy to get close enough to Highroller to touch or zap him either. Between security and East Citadel being ridden with animals, getting revenge on him wouldn't be easy.
But the Zebra Brothers? They're affiliated with Highroller. They're in much closer proximity, and they're the source of (some of) the pain Ray has faced in his life. They also keep causing the heroes of Big Green all sorts of trouble. So... why not?
5. TLDR:
Mighty Ray has gone through a lot in his early life that has left many hidden scars. Much of those scars were directly caused by Highroller in some way, and this is partially why Mighty Ray is a hero: so he can prevent what happened to him from happening to other people. He still harbors a lot of anger over what happened to him, though, and at his lowest points he often considers vengeance as the answer. Highroller is hard to get to, but the Zebras--who are direct servants under HR--aren't. As a result, they are often the target of his frustration.
That's all!! Thanks for coming to my RAY talk. If you read all of this you're so goated...........
Alright yo... Kno it an example question, but interested to kno if you headcanon any characters as neurodivergent! I'm neurodivergent myself and tend to headcanon lot of characters that way, really curious to see what your headcanons are!
Yesss neurodivergent headcanons!! :D I have quite a few! Here's what I got:
Lin Chung has autism (partly me projecting, but I also believe he genuinely shows a lot of traits in the show), and likely some form of depression or depressive disorder :o
Thinking Archer, Lady Green, and Rose could also have autism (and in Rose's case, maybe ADHD also!)
Jumpy struggles with maladaptive dreaming/dissociative tendencies which distract him during important missions.
Sonia, Alpha Girl, and Xiaoqi both have anxiety of some kind. Alpha Girl stresses over being the best version of herself she can be/being the best she can for her team, and Xiaoqi has severe social anxiety. Sonia's anxiety might be more generalized
Mighty Ray has ADHD.
Nick and I have been toying with the idea of Apetrully, Rattle Diva, and possibly Ray having BPD (though we have been researching it deeper to make sure it's portrayed accurately)!
Woo has both OCD and autism---he is also a victim of projecting given my own struggles/experiences with both :sob:
On that note, I could see No Hands having OCD as well! I think it manifests a lot in micromanaging and needing things to be a specific way, even if it doesn't make sense to others.
This requires more thought/research, but I think Highroller could have a disorder or two gained over time given his backstory involving lightning/head injuries (??)
Not sure if this counts, but I imagine Ray and Xiaoqi also struggle with gender dysphoria. Rattle Diva used to, but she's very confident and comfortable now :]c
I also like to experiment with many of the characters having trauma, given the fact that they go through dangerous situations very often. They all react/cope with it differently, but most of them have a hard time with normalizing what they've gone through since it's part of their day-to-day life. There are a few characters that have unique experiences apart from what occurs during missions, however:
Despite the fact Sonia loves romance and dating, she struggles a lot with it given the circumstances of her curse (see the events of Book 2: Three Suitors for Mystique Sonia). She has a lot of fears around dating, especially rejecting people, as a result.
Ray struggles with the death of his parents.
(hope I can get that backstory post about it out of my drafts soon...)
Lin Chung develops a fear around water over the course of the series.
Other characters I headcanon having pasts with (specific) trauma before the events of the show: Woo; No Hands; Mano; Zebra Brothers; Medusa; etc. I won't go into depth on those characters in this post since it would be a lot lol.
That's all I can think of for now! I'd love to hear from you or anyone else if you have extra or different thoughts :]c
I may have now one opinion request of Hero 108, if ya don't that that is =^///^=
Although this may be a bit obvious on what I will ask... What do ya think about Lin Chung x Yang Tu a.k.a chaotic harmony? I respect if ya won't feel the same way as I do on the ship, just know that just incase. ^^; 🖤🩶🖋️💚🖤🗡️
I don’t mind at all! Thanks for asking :]
They’ve actually been one of my favorite ships to explore lately in my AUs!! I LOVE the enemies to lovers potential they have and also just how MESSY that relationship would be on a literal and *universal* level. It's not just a clash of personality and morality, but in my mind they're always doomed by the narrative. A symbol of harmony and a vessel of chaos—if nothing else were in the way the demons at be would still forbid it from happening. They're at the mercy of themselves and fate. They gotta be at the top of my list for doomed gays ♡♡♡
I think they'd see each other as a project: "I could make him better" vs. "I could make him worse." Disregarding morality for a second, Lin would genuinely admire Yang for not just who he is but who he could BECOME. His strength and determination are impressive and he wants to see that put towards good! Lin also stands out in a crowd to Yang, but he sees his attitude and just can't HELP but want to push his buttons. To peel away at his layers, get to know him and- also make him loosen up a little! He's so serious and for what??! So while their differences definitely stray them away, they also compliment each other well >:}c
In regards to the Hero 108 Fandom as a whole I'm shocked this ship didn't gain traction sooner :0 I've been active in the online community since I was 16-17 and it's only gotten art within the past couple of years afaik. It seems like such an OBVIOUS CHOICE IN HINDSIGHT (/pos) since "enemies to lovers" ships are so popular. Glad we have it around now though, it's adorable :]
-
In short: I love Chaotic Harmony and it's been a ship I've been exploring a lot recently. They're cute and have severe BAGGAGE and I LOVE THAT FOE THEM.
That's my 2 cents on those two! Hopefully that answer is sufficient. Have a recent sketch of them from Modern Reincarnate for the road 🙂↕️💜💚
