2025 cdrama year in review

less extensive than last year's post largely bc i really only watched a handful of new dramas this year and had less overall investment, but here's a quick overview of things i watched in descending order.

perfect match the big shocker: this is my favorite drama of the year. i'm not generally either a het or a romcom person but i found the cast of this show so charming that i was wholly won over. i want sister shenanigans and brother-in-law alliance antics!

i am nobody 2 ngl i cried. i found chen duo's story compelling, and meeting all the different operators was super neat. wang ye and feng bao bao were great, as expected.

mobius despite being a bit cheesy in places and especially with the unnecessary romance, i overall enjoyed this drama and there was a good balance of humor and suspense. i am also just generally a bai jingting enjoyer so i appreciated the drama letting him flex.

a dream within a dream quite a lot of fun! a good satire of some extremely tiring tropes, and i ended up really liking both the main and secondary cps a decent amount. i think li yitong has finally found her niche with this kind of character.

the glory i enjoyed this drama, despite xin yunlai being rather stiff. i thought he was great in legend of shen li last year, so i'm not sure what happened. but overall, i enjoyed the twists and turns and schemes.

rose finch wan qian my queen. this show was unnecessarily gory at points, but i really loved gao ying! qin junjie did a good job too. i watched this drama for the two lead actors and they did not disappoint me.

kill my sins i also watched this ig. i had high hopes since i like both liu shishi and dou xiao but it was just ok in the end.

moonlight mystique technically i'm still watching this, but i just don't care about anything that's happening. the ost is banging and ao ruipeng's styling is great tho.

stuff that i am still intending to watch but who knows when i'll get around to it:

whispers of fate

love on the turquoise land

all the cheng yi dramas

a couple of the hou minghaos

at least one cheng lei

probably one of the other lady general shows too

Thinking about how funny it would be if the Big Green girls turned into the opposite of themselves when they drink.

Mystique Sonia is usually so lively but when she drinks she gets quiet and broody. She, Lin Chung, and Apetruly all sit at a table and have deep, philosophical conversations for hours. None of them remember a word of it in the morning.

Rose Finch and Lady Green are normally disciplined but they become total party animals. Rose Finch is dancing on the table. Lady Green is chanting SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS!

Rattle Diva, who is always so put together and confident, is Ugly Crying. Over what, no one knows, they can't understand her with her face burrowed into her wig

The tough as nails Alpha Girl gets sleepy and weirdly affectionate. She's clinging to her teammates like a determined backup and telling them how much she loves them. They all agree never to mention it again.
